We had a lot of hits and runs is what I assume the poster meant. I think we had 11 runs on 20 March.

So much so that I got into education for the raise in pay and better hours.

As an aside, and not meant derail things, but disappointed that the Crimson Wave beat the Blue Devils four times this season.

Hopewell was probably the second best team in the state in 3A. I know Petersburg was runner-up, but based on what I heard with what happened in the title game, Petersburg was prevented from winning the championship.

We out hit them but left 15 runners stranded. Had every opportunity but a couple on misplayed balls in the outfield did us in.

Not being negative. Just realistic based on this season so far.
We will drop 2 of 3 to GS then blow a lead and lose to UNC.

This team can get runners on base but stinks at plating runs. We are not consistent enough through the lineup.

We also have a major tendency to make defensive mistakes and put runners on with 0 or 1 out then walk a better or two, forcing our pitchers to dig out of a hole and very often it bites us in the ass.

How does it generally work with the mid week games, especially against these better teams in terms of pitching? For example against UNC did we face their 4th or 5th starter and bullpen guys who don’t pitch on the weekends? Are we using a top guy against these teams? We seem to run out of gas on the weekends due to limited pitching.

Our pitching was very good against the best line-up we will see.They had to bring in their best closer late to wrap it up.I think we had baserunners in about every inning.We had a couple of screw ups in the outfield that really cost us early and then late.

The bad news is that pitching seems to put themselves into jams. The good news is that they find a way to pitch out of them. So that’s encouraging.
