We had 2nd and 3rd, no out. Ground ball to first. First baseman throws home. Looked we slid under, but were called out. Can't remember who the runner was.mtnjax wrote:App sports twitter keeps mentioning a controversial play at the plate. anyone know what happened?

Troutman was runner. Throw was high, Catcher had to reach up to catch it. Troutman slid head first. Catcher tagged him on butt. Troutmans chest was on the plate when catcher tagged him. Hand was easily in in time. Very very bad call. Not even a tough call for the ump to make, and he blew itHeffnerIV wrote:We had 2nd and 3rd, no out. Ground ball to first. First baseman throws home. Re: App State vs Wofford- Game 3
I did feel a sense of joy while I watched the teams shake hands post-game knowing that were were done playing Wofford (scheduled) for the foreseeable future. I think it's telling that there's so little romanticism among our fanbase for our final season of the SoCon.

I was at the softball games on Saturday against Ga. Southern. The games were pretty well played but the Plate Umpire calls were aghast. There was one GSU dad standing near me and after a few innings of me "asking" the officiating to get better and he doing the same, we would laugh at each other because of the bad calls.
Then it got personal....one of the dads started talking about football and I knew we had the upper hand, he stopped talking when I reminded him that we had won 3 of 4 and held the overall win advantage.......Then the mother of one of the girls said after the game, that she was glad to not have to be in SoCon next year b/c the only team she liked playing was App.
I am beginning to think that the only people who care we are leaving it us and GSU.
The others will in the future when they do not have 5-7K APP football fans to visit their home venues and be able to charge more for the tickets to that game.
Go APPS!

You're correct. Frankly, I think you're right and generally speaking, most are happy to see the two of us go. Their mission is to become the little ivy of the south and a couple of football rabid, large publics don't really assist with that goal.asutrnr81 wrote:VERY!HeffnerIV wrote:I think it's telling that there's so little romanticism among our fanbase for our final season of the SoCon.

SmallCon fans don't care we're leaving, alright. You can go to AGS and read the daily posts about how much they don't care we're leaving. They spend hours a day not caring.

As anxious as we were to leave, why should they be sad to see us go? I am excited about the SBC future we have and am glad we are making the move. But, I don't expect our current SoCon brethren to shed any tears. The SoCon was a good home for 40+ years. It is time to move on but I don't wish the remaining members of the SoCon anything but good fortune. I certainly don't look down my nose at them as though we are too good for them.

I don't expect them to be upset. I was more commenting that I expected some of us, particularly some older alums, to be a little a little more nostalgic about the SoCon. But it's not the same conference it was so maybe that's a contributor.hapapp wrote:As anxious as we were to leave, why should they be sad to see us go?
