UNC v. App

Unread post by Goapps15 » Tue Feb 25, 2014 3:25 pm

Terrible start. Get the bases loaded with two outs and Leach has another lackluster at bat.

Bottom of the first starts with 2 walks, a booted double play ball and back-to-back bases loaded walks.

Burkette out.

Another walk and a sac fly and it's already 4-0 with ony one out.

6-0 after a big 2-out single. That was UNC's first hit of the game and it made it 6-0. 1 error, sac fly, 5 walks and 1 hit gets UNC 6 runs. How the heck does that happen to a Division 1 baseball team?

I don't care if we have to have someone give up home run after home run throwing 55 MPH, at least throw the ball over the plate.

Also having Leach bat 6th again came back to haunt us. Same situation as Saturday and same result. He may need to bat 8th or have a few days off. He is not healthy and does not look ready to play.

At this point, we desperately need some pitching and defense and hitting. Otherwise, we're in excellent shape.

I think it's all pitching. We have some kids that have no business being out there. It might be a long year.

I agree with Butch.

At this point it is pretty much everything going wrong. One game we will get shutout, the next game we will make 4 or 5 errors and the third of a 3 game series we will walk/hit 5-10 batters.

Head makes his 5th error in as many days to start the bottom of the 2nd, dropping a pop fly in foul territory.

So, now our 3rd basesman drops a pop up, the batter then singles, and ends up scoring on an error by our shortstop. Got one error on each infielder but our 2nd baseman, guess it's his turn before we head out to the outfield.

I guess our coaching staff is learning what our players need to work on in practice.

Oops. Forgot the catcher. There's his error. That whole infield would be sitting on their butts the rest of the game if it was me.

Winning starts with pitching and defense.

I know you are most likely saying this out of frustration - however, baseball is a game of mistakes and failure - the best hitters fail 70% of the time - I must preface this by saying I have not see this team play as yet but the coach cannot sit players who make mistakes unless he thinks the mistakes were committed because of lack of effort (mental or physical) - they have played some very good teams and possibly a few more likely wins could have been scheduled during this period but I was always a believer that a team only gets better by playing better competition ---

How many backwards K's did we have while hitting in this game?
