Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
This is the under 30 day alert until 1st Pitch (I think we're actually at 4 weeks, 28 days).
Kind of crazy that football season end and baseball season start is only 20ish days apart....
Did we ever call Banks Tolley for another year on the JuCo year rule? Haha. Where is he?

Yes, exactly 4 weeks. Can't wait to see what the boys can do this year. Banks was playing at the end of last year, hopefully he'll sign on with an MLB organization.311neers wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 9:06 amThis is the under 30 day alert until 1st Pitch (I think we're actually at 4 weeks, 28 days).

This is interesting. Why couldn’t Banks or any other JUCO guys do this? Is it because Banks signed “professionally” with that team in Wisconsin or something? Played like 6 total games… that would be a bummer if he signed and played 6 games burning his JUCO repayment years in college. Didn’t know about the ruling at the time.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
With the year Banks had last year, why would he come back? If he had another good year, I am not sure his draft status would have changed significantly....and we were not going to pay him life changing money...311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 30, 2025 9:52 pmhttps://x.com/anthonydasher1/status/188 ... 3hJ5cku44gBUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 17, 2025 9:20 amYes, exactly 4 weeks. If he has a desire to be a professional athlete, IMO he made right decision.

That ruling happened in Dec. If he didn't sign a contract in July then yes technically he could come back. IMO his best bet is to try catch on overseas or a higher level professional league in a different country.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 6:50 amWith the year Banks had last year, why would he come back? 2 Weeks until baseball games begin. Any chance they stream the Hickory games this year?

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Just bad timing with the ruling coming 6 months after he signed professionally. Would have been awesome for him to have that door open to come back to college and hit more nukes if he wanted to.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 8:46 amThat ruling happened in Dec. 33-21-1 what an excellent 2024 season. We lost some absolute studs at the plate.
Excited to see what Correa can do and the return of Xuereb. No Steensma hurts so we will have to have a few step up on the bump. I can smell the leather and hear the pop of the gloves and bats.

It’s almost time to crank the chainsaw. At least that’s what it looks like when they hit doubles.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 1:24 pmhttps://x.com/carolinacurvebb/status/18 ... 3hJ5cku44g

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Pitching is going to continue to be a problem... especially with 33 out for the year. We will need to score TDs to win games unless we have some pitching surprises. Just my opinion.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Have to win midweeks and early OOC games and fight like heck for .500 in conference.
I’ve got a feeling the SBC will be a gauntlet as NIL/portal continue to evolve.
No Steensma is probably worth a few losses. Excited to see the new bats, but worried about the arms still. The ball will be flying out at Jim and Beattie Smith stadium regardless!

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Starting pitching is TBD but I think our bullpen has more options than we've ever had under Kermit. I think our bats will be better top to bottom, but won't have one or two mashers like last year.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 8:11 pmPitching is going to continue to be a problem... especially with 33 out for the year. (Or here’s to hoping)
Maybe Kramer surprises with pop as well.
