On serious note, things like this helps program and recruiting...
APPsolutely it helps in recruiting. It helps in development. It helps with literally everything in the sport -- not just pitching.

This is part of the reason so many of us said to be patient. Coach Smith has personally done a large portion of the fundraising for this. And there is more to come. This man truly cares about this program and is willing to do just about anything to continue this growth.

Props to his family too for sacrificing a lot time with their husband/dad so he can continue growing the program.

I'm not really close with the baseball program, so others likely have more information... But, I do know Coach Smith spends way more time away from his family (so does coach Johnson so shout-out to him and his family as well!) than most D1 baseball coaches do. And that's 100% out of love for what we have on top of the mountain!

**Edit** I also know Coach Smith had an offer on the table that more than doubled his pay that he turned down. Again, I'm not real close with the program so I don't know specifics (where, who, when, etc.), but am confident it happened

It’s almost like a golf simulator lab (maybe you’ve done one of these) and all the pros use those. It’s a computer software system, probably Trackman as the brand. It tracks and keeps data/info such as arm motion, ball speed, rotation of ball, spin rate etc. Breaks down your film and mechanics in 3D for you to see where you can tweak things to where you want to be. The game is going very statistical and analytical, especially on the mound and this should be a key step in helping us achieve goals! Probably some good links out there on Wake Forest’s pitching lab, they set the standard with theirs.

And it’s indoors!! So the team can use it at all times throughout the year.

AHHHH the A word again. I'm sure it will help with real time feedback. Just need some more consistency pitching and they can make some noise.

Haha yup! If we can walk a couple less a game and lower that 7.00 ERA 1-2 points we could have done some major damage last year.

Excited to see what the team looks like during fall ball. Hope they host a scrimmage on Friday night or Saturday before a football game again!

I am still amazed that we had the run we had with our ERA. Not sure we can count on that level ERA and win consistently. . .I realize someone coming from a P5 does not necessarily make them good players or better than what we have...but it seems to indicate that we are getting noticed by players that may not have heard of App. If true that Kermit stayed even with a substantially higher offer at another school....maybe we have someone that wants to be competitive while also providing quality of life for spouse and kids....There are many more on the board that know him as I do not....just the interviews he has done... especially at the conference tournament...I am sold on Kermit. Hope the team keeps winning and he wants to stay as a lifer.

That is a heck of an era in the minors. I'm expecting big things out of Xander in the future.

An "App baseball family " , you likely know them...I would think some kind of recognition is in the works Brother.

Appsolutely outstanding people! Is it time for fall ball yet? Do we know if we are planning a fall scrimmage like last year? Friday night before a home football game or Saturday before tailgating get's ramped up? I believe we did that last year vs. Wofford.

Does anyone know of a Fall scrimmage schedule, if it has been released anywhere? Also any thoughts when 2024 schedule might come out? I know it was November, last year.

The black and gold series (intrasquad series best of 3) is usually on Homecoming weekend or right before. I hope we are playing another team for a game or two in the fall. Last year was Wofford on a Saturday before a home football game, hope we do the same thing again. Stonewall is probably our best bet for fall scrimmage info, or anything baseball related!

I've heard there is a scrimmage/game with another school that morning of Oct.28 before Southern Miss but will wait for announcements, if any. Similar to last year. Baseball in morning/late morning. Football in afternoon. Hopefully that means 3:30pm or later kick.
