App St vs #2 UNC

Nice showing by the App crowd for sure. Over 2,000 at the game, their season average is about 1,400. Had great seats behind the plate. Ump was inconsistent but not unfair, both sides benefitted from some misses on balls and strikes.

Perfect day for baseball, our bats just couldn't get going. I thought it was a mistake asking Callaway to bunt in the 6th with no outs and two on. Really killed a potential rally.

Also worth noting that both UNC runs scored as a result of mistakes in the field. Pitching was excellent, could have very well been scoreless in the 9th.

After 5,000+ miles of travel in the last 4 days, I thought our boys came to play. Heels are a very good team and we just couldn't capitalize on the chances they gave us with walks and hit batters.

Too many missed opportunities. Several failures at very pivotal at-bats, like having two men on with no outs and leaving the inning with nothing to show for it, and that was the difference. Frustrating and disappointing, but losing by two to one of the best teams in recent ACC history isn't something to hang our heads about. Although I would have preferred a score of 3-1 if we had to lose by two. Their pitching and defense were STOUT.

Their announcers were annoying as hell. Going into the 9th, one of them said "Lets see if App State can make a ballgame out of this," like being up by two runs is some sort of blow out. Arrogant Holes. How could anyone like UNC?
