A few minutes ago I was listening to Rush and he was talking about the movie Concussion and saying pro football was the best spectator sport. Then he stepped in it. He SAID this is not Appalachian State. I think I will send him a box of cupcakes with 34-32 in gold on black icing.
Of course it does get us some air time.... Forget that, we had a great season and won our first bowl. Go Black&Gold.

As another washed-up has been I listen to Rush. He was not slamming APP….in fact he clarified his remarks after the commercial break. It was nice to hear Appalachian State mentioned on a national radio show and pronounced correctly!

He's hittin' the painkillers again....

Sorry I didn't hear his comments after the break. I live in Tennessee and VA Tech country so I have to stand up for APP Nation.

It was a slam, but it's because we have a national name recognition. We're not in the SEC or Big 12, but we had "that" win and its viewed by most as "An all time upset". He used App as an example of the fact that in the pros the good are really good and the bad aren't that far behind. Not like App vs UM. That is essentially the point he was making.

Also of note, he pronounced it right. Also due to the brand/name recogniton.

I didn't hear it but I don't read that transcript as a slam in the least. I interpret it as you can't have an upset as big as App's win over Michigan in the NFL. That's a true statement, and not disparaging of App at all. Kind of a compliment to get an all time upset mention so many years later, in my opinion.

Yep... I can see where this is headed...to the Political Folder.

He meant there are teams like the Bama's, Ohio States, Clemsons and then there's teams like the Appalachian States. In the NFL they're all Bamas, etc. Wasnt a slam, just a reality.

I guess he's referring to the upset @ Michigan and saying that there aren't any underdogs in the NFL.

Did he at least pronounce the name right or did he "laytch" it up?

Yeah your probably right about reaching with the compliment part, but it's clear the App mention was a reference to the unlikelihood of the Michigan win in the college game, compared to the parity in the NFL, and as such it was not a slam on App St.

Cleveland was the worst team in the league this year right? So I don't think it was meant as a compliment saying even Cleveland is not a push over basically. It was a jab but he knows nothing about us. I doubt the UM game was even in the calculus of that comment. Appalachia is hillbilly country to these people, that is where that came from. Someone needs to tweet him our record this year.
