FBS transition comparisons

Unread post by EastHallApp » Mon Jan 04, 2016 2:02 pm

Now that we're done with year 2, I wanted to compile a few notes on how Appalachian compares to where the 26 other programs (that I know of) that have made the FCS-to-FBS jump were at this point. (Spoiler alert: We're doing great.)

- App's 11-2 record was the second-best ever for a second-year FBS program, behind Marshall's 12-1. No other 2nd-year FBS team has won more than 9 games.

- App's 4-win improvement over last year ties the biggest 2nd-year jump ever. Last year's 3-win improvement over 2013 was the single-biggest 1st-year jump ever.

- App is the second team ever to increase its win total in both year 1 and year 2 of FBS play (South Florida was the first).

- App is one of just six former FCS schools to ever win at least 11 games as an FBS program (Boise St., Nevada, Marshall, UCF and now Western Kentucky are the others).
