Out of curiosity, what are the rates people are seeing? Sounds like you will have to pay a premium to be downtown versus a few miles east on I-85.

I just paid $238 per nt to be in walking distance. I might do some more research and see if there is a hotel that offers a shuttle service. I just wanted to be sure I had something downtown just in case. BTW I think the Embassy Suites is the only thing left downtown that has rooms.

$114 a night at the Holiday Inn Express off of Charmichael Road (E I-85). Was rated pretty well on Trip Adviser... not downtown, but close enough...

I stayed at this property for a couple quick evenings back in April and it wasn't too bad...decent location and slightly-above-average free continental breakfast. I'd recommend it for the price so I think you did well.

If you have an RV or a buddy that owns one, they have powered lots right next to the stadium. It's only $50 for the whole weekend. I booked my slot already, me and my buds are going to be partying all weekend!

If you are retired military like I am, don't forget about Maxwell AFB. Just booked basically a one bedroom apartment with a full kitchen for $60 a night.

Thanks HKYMtneer... Just switched to the Drury Inn & Suites. Able to fit folks into a suite for lower cost than 2 rooms at the Holiday Inn Express...
This should be fun!

I booked a suite at the Hampton Inn & Suites Downtown with HHonors points after the GaSo game, but I think the rate at that time was $179 a night plus taxes and fees.

I just went with the Country Inn and Suites that appears to be in the same parking lot as the Holiday Inn Express. It was $78.32 per night plus taxes. I took it because you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance - just in case they throw us a curve ball this weekend. Wanted to make sure somewhere was booked.

I originally booked at the Doubletree downtown, but after going on TripAdvisor, I switched to the Drury Inn. Got a better room for cheaper price. Now If we can just come to a consensus on where to eat BBQ.
