On the latest edition of the world renowned Black and Gold podcast they guys named the defense the " Zombie Defense" is this the name we want for one of the best units in the nation? By the way I do love the podcast.

Pretty much anything other than zombie defense...

I like the idea of naming a shutdown type defense. As referenced above, Seattle's Legion of Boom has certainly gained some traction. Duke's defense from the 1938 football season was coined the Iron Dukes, and stuck so well the athletic booster club is the Iron Dukes and the Duke logo is the Iron D (left side of the D resembles an i-beam).

Although this is kind of like the naming of the Iron Bowl, or creating a trophy like the Old Mountain Jug, it may take a bit for anything to catch on and stick. Certainly this defense will need to continue its dominance for any naming to hold.

Zombie Defense is out there now, usually the first published holds, but if the Apps pitch another shut out and the defense earns a moniker on ESPN or some other national article it could be out of our hands.

In the meantime perhaps:
Black Attack
Boone Blitz
Killer Mountains
Men of the Mountain or Mountain of Men

I like Zombie Defense. Something different that isn't cliche.

Sounds A LOT stupid to me! How'd they come up with THAT? Zombies are slow, weak and stupid. Easily defeated with a blow to the head. They only way they can get you is in superior numbers or if you totally let your guard down.

It's an insult to this squad. Stop it immediately! This is what happens when you do things artificially.
