New Mexico State and Texas State
Am I missing something? Why are we not playing Texas State and New Mexico State this season? I know that there is an unbalanced alignment in the conference until Coastal comes in, but why are we not playing them?

Schedule rotates every two years in the conference. We'll pick them up next year and lose 2 other teams from the schedule for 2 years.

Ah, and that is hard to put a finger on. Last year we did not play Texas State or New Mexico State; so we pick them up next season? What if they were both undefeated in the conference with us how would they determine who wins the conference?

Co-champions. Would have happened last year if we hadn't beaten ULL for Southern.WVAppsfan wrote:Ah, and that is hard to put a finger on. I believe any teams that tie for first are co-champions anyway, whether they played head-to-head or not.

Once Coastal comes on is the SB going to be split into two divisions for football? I'm sure this has been answered but I didn't know.

Re: New Mexico State and Texas State
Coastal gets SB to 12 for now. Should be east stretching to Alabama and west really stretching to idaho. I assume we will get TXST and NMST in year 1 and GS will get ULL and ARKST, etc. I am not sure if they will do two year schedules again with playing 3/6 other division home and way then switch to other 3 or if they will go with a permanent partner and rotating the other 5. That works in the mode of getting 5 division foes + 1 permanent partner to have 3H/3away. If they skip this 6th partner the schedule gets more cumbersome to keep 4home/4away games.

Yeah it's kind of up in the air, as Coastal won't join for football for a couple years, and who knows if Idaho and/or NMSU will still be members by then.

I'm sure when Coastal joins, we will play 8 conference games. 5 in our division and 3 from the other. I would prefer we 3 of the 6 one year and the other 3 the next year. I realize we would only get a team at home every 4 years, but we would play everybody in 2 years. The way other conferences do it you may not play an opponent for several years. That's one of the reasons Wake is playing UNC in a non-conference series.
