Where will we go bowling?

Where do you think Appalachian State will go bowling (should we continue on this streak)?

GoDaddy Bowl: Mobile, Alabama
New Orleans Bowl: New Orleans, Louisiana
Camellia Bowl: Montgomery, Alabama
Cure Bowl: Orlando, Florida

Do you think there is a chance another bowl selects us due to location (i.e. Belk Bowl)?

On the last question - no. Bowls have conference tie-ins. Belk Bowl, for example, is ACC vs. SEC.

My guess - and it's just that - is that if we win out, the league will try to get us some preferential treatment among those four bowls, which to me would mean NOLA or Orlando.

Otherwise, anyone's guess, though I would think the Camellia or Cure would be the most likely due to proximity.

Representatives of the Cure Bowl and the GoDaddy Bowl were at the game last night and David Jackson interviewed them before the game. Based on what they were saying, I think we showed exactly what they are looking for: Fans who travel, excitement, Good play on the field, etc.

Personally, I'm hoping for the Cure Bowl.

Yep, the Cure Bowl in Orlando would be my first choice too. An inaugural Bowl for a team that just moved up into the FBS world. The Cure Bowl is supposed to be Sunbelt vs. Conf. USA.

So, please, please, please, let it be ASU vs. ECU in the Cure Bowl. To beat ECU in the inaugural Cure Bowl in Orlando would be almost better than Christmas ... at least for me.

I would go to New Orleans and I would go to Mobile. The dinners down there in either of those centers of Creole cooking would be worth the trip all by itself.

Montgomery, eh, somebody's going to have to talk me into that one.

I think I read/heard at Football 201, the conference winner (if it is clear) goes to NOLA. My pref is the bowl that gets us the best national and media exposure.

ECU is in the AAC now.

Cure Bowl is AAC vs Sun Belt. Not CUSA vs Sun Belt. And last I checked the ESPN projections, both had Tulsa going to that one (playing either us or GaSo), but ECU would be sweet and is possible.

Wasn't there a tie in to a bowl in the Bahamas? Or was that one too many brews

Not for the Sun Belt. C-USA and MAC have that tie in

We (the Sun Belt) do have the alternate tie-in affiliation in regards to the Bahamas Bowl, and same goes for the new Arizona Bowl. More than a few things would have to happen for a Belt team to end up in one of those games however, none of which are looking very feasible this season. But it is in the realm of possibility.

Talk you into going??? It would be our first bowl game, and it is the closest location out of all the bowls. Going to any of these bowls will be a blast, and from what the USA fans said they had a good time in Montgomery last year. I'd prefer other cities, but im definitely not turning my nose up to any of them.

NOLA gets first choice, but they don't have to pick the conference champion. That's why no matter who wins the Sun Belt, they always pick the champion of the University of Louisiana-Lafayette.

But if they're ever going to pass on ULL, this might be the year.

We are making refundable hotel reservations in all 4 cities.

Go Daddy would be my last choice, simply because of the date. I'd fly back then get in the car and start traveling to family all over. That said, hotel reservations are made, and I've been looking at flights.

Yep, this year ULL might not be all that attractive. They will very likely be a low end qualifier and if their attendance is dropping they won't look all that attractive...especially with sanctions probably hitting in the near future. Also, if Louisiana Tech is the other invitee, they the New Orleans Bowl won't want a re-match of a bad game. This could be the year that somebody else gets the nod.

When we travel, we try to find a cabin or neat house/condo to rent via www.homeaway.com.

Our trip to Montana we stayed in a cabin on the black snake river about 10 minutes outside of Missoula. Our trip to Louisiana Lafayette we stayed in a condo near the French Quarter in New Orleans (about a 90 minute drive away). Of course the stink, we stayed in Savannah (Tybee Island).

If you travel with friends, this is much less expensive than individual hotel rooms. When we split the cost, typically less than $100 per night per family - and much better than a hotel room, makes the trip more enjoyable.

I was at all three championship games in Chattanooga and loved the experience each time. It wasn't because Chatty is such a great destination. It was because of the game! Yes, I would love to go to the Cure Bowl and Orlando is part of the reason, but I probably won't have time to take advantage of the tourist attractions even if I'm able to go. It's all about the game. Any bowl game that we wind up going to will be a great experience to our players and fans. It's GREAT to be a MOUNTAINEER!

Off topic but do you like Tybee? We spent a week there last summer (booked it through Home Away) and loved it. It's a nice laid back place. No chain restaurants just a bunch of cool local owned places. We tattooed the stink flag in Sting Rays with a big App State. Disrespectful I know but it was a stink flag hanging right over my head.
