Does anyone know how long the current contract with IMG runs? I would like to see your thoughts on finding a new group to work with, I am not a fan of IMG at all.

Westwood One? What else is there really? IMG needs to support the ASU network better, more stations more $$$$

I forgot them, my issue is that IMG does not support ASU. There are very few stations that carry the broadcast and I feel that they do not provide us with the appropriate amount of $$$ either. IMG is a dealing machine and I have never been impressed with them.

How much money should they be giving us? How much are they giving us currently?

I am not sure, that is what I am trying to find out. We should have as much as the next team in the Sun Belt. I do believe the new AD will have this on his agenda. Look at the new contract for Nike as the outfitter for the entire set of teams at the University.

Well, Gillin worked for IMG for some years, so i'm sure those relationships will come in handy. I doubt we move to another media rights company anytime soon. Having them headquartered in WS has to help as well.

Two things if we were to switch....#1 they need to can Molly Cotton. #2 They MUST keep David Jackson... there would be a riot if he were to leave.

It's Cotten. I'm guessing she must be related to Stan Cotten, voice of Wake Forest.
What do you have against her, anyway? I think she does well.

She does well? I shan't even try to argue that...

What broadcasting experience do you have?

You ask that with the assumption that I don't. If you can first get past her voice, then you have to deal with her screwing up what she is saying, and finally you have to deal with the fact she sounds lost. I personally can't stand to hear her and I am embarrassed for others to hear her.

Yessir, it is what it is. DGillin spent 10 years of his career as an Exec. VP with ISP/IMG. That's almost half of his adult working career. He was the guest speaker last month at the IMG Corporate Forum. I don't foresee him turning his back and looking elsewhere for a media partner during his ASU tenure.

Just for reference, a friend in college athletics said our deal with IMG that we signed back around 2007 was unheard of for FCS. It was on par with what is now the G5. So while we always want to do better I dont think we have a subpar deal for a first year FBS team. Gillin's ties to IMG will certainly come in handy down the road.

Yeah, I guess I did.
I guess her voice doesn't bother me as much as it might others. To each his own, but I don't see the need to talk about an App alumna in such negative terms.
I do agree about IMG. I think they do a solid job.

I think IMG has done well by us, No idea how the money is. I just remember what it was like before they got here. With everything and everyone turning to the net, not sure a robust radio network means what it used to.

If we are to put our best foot forward and deliver the best product we can.... well.... then that may require someone saying something bad about someone to get the ball rolling. I thought for sure that she would get better as the years went on but I haven't seen any improvement. Speaking from personal experience (and in talking with others), when you have to go on air, speak in front of a group, or be on TV.....you try to prepare what you are going to say. You read over your notes, transcript, or what have you. Very few people have the ability to wing it and make it sound good. When dealing with facts and numbers, like a simple "scores around the college football world" type of segment, you should probably take a quick gander at who is playing and where the game stands prior to getting on the air. I understand that scores change but at least be prepared to say the names of the schools right. Learn how to breath when talking so you don't have to gasp for air or sound like you are swallowing a gallon of spit. It just sounds horrid. Is she an App grad? Yes. Am I glad she is an App grad? Heck yes. Does that mean she is above reproach or criticism? Nope. In the end I don't make the calls. I just don't see how anyone can think that she is the best person for that job.
