Was able to take in part of the scrimmage this afternoon and wrote a few things about it. It's a little choppy, but enjoy!!

Sounds like we have a long way to go and a short time to get there

I really believe we need to temper our expectations for the coming season. I think this team has the potential to get better as the season progresses but I think early season we will still likely struggle with some inconsistent play. I'm looking forward to the ECU game but I think that will be a severe test.

Very concerned about both lines.

Who said we are going to be good HappAPP? We could very well be 1-3 the first month, imo

Tysean Holloway is going to be a stud.
Wonder what the deal with Miller is???

I'm more frightened by Dexter's eyes than C's practice report.

Looks like he has 270 degree vision.

Nice summation but it sounds as if the play on the field leaves a lot to be desired. Until this offense can establish any kind of run game, the WR's cannot afford to drop passes. In order to get the uptempo going and a good flow to the game and play calling, guys must execute.

Price is definitely inconsistent. He's had some really good days and some like yesterday. I'm sure that part will improve.
Hopefully Miller was just sick or something.
Also, I wonder if the pace is something they haven't adjusted to yet?
Sounds like RB might be an evolving scenario.

Coaches have switched up some players. Canepa is back at DE from TE. Magloire is seeing reps at RB. Middleton has moved outside from Star to CB with injuries to both Walker and Blackmon. Let's hope Middleton can make the adjustment and learn from last year's mistakes.

If the offense cant hang onto and move the ball, the uptempo will hurt us more than the opponent. Imagine our defense getting an average 90 sec. breather on the sideline while our offense goes 3 and out.
The Qbs and recievers need to get their heads on straight, theyre going to be imperative to getting a run game going, otherwise the opponents will just gamble on stopping the run and let us drop and INT ourselves to death.
15 days. Two weeks to get it done, and two weeks to get healthy. It can be done.

One thng to keep in mind is the guys are probably getting tired at this point in camp. It happens every year, and I'm sure it has hit them a little harder with the up tempo style we're running this season. We also have a decent number of guys banged up at the moment. It's probably best to wait until Sept 1st to start making prediction about what this team can or can't do.

Thanks for the write up Big C. Any word on when the transfer from Oregon will see the field? Is he going to be at Fan-fest?

According to reports Miller, who has been hurt, was cleared to play Wednesday but the coaches decided to hold him out a couple more days just to let him rest and recover a little more.
Sumler's plane was late arriving and he wasn't able to make it in time to play Wednesday. He will be on the field today but, as per NCAA rules, he can only practice in shells for the next two days. Should be ready for Saturday.
By all reports Wednesday was a "weary leg" day. Any of us who have played know that, around 4 or 5 days after the two-a-days start you get the rubber legs no matter how good of condition you are in. It will take a few days to get the second wind, so to speak, and I think the next week will show improvement once we get our sea legs back under us. Everybody goes through it. Don't know what that bodes for Saturday but I think next week will be much better.

I have heard conflicting reports, but I believe Sumler will be with the team today for the first time, and he is required to practice without pads for 2 or 3 days. He'll be at FanFest, but if what I have heard is true, he will not be able to compete.

The defense is always ahead of the offense in camp. Just like in baseball pitchers are ahead of hitters in spring training. The glass is half full hapapp. In the interest of reality dont lose sight of reality.
