Upperclassmen, Lowerclassmen, FCS recruit, FBS recruit??

Unread post by sonsofyosef » Sat Oct 18, 2014 11:49 am

I want to understand this...

Someone says "Look at Georgia Southern. They are doing so well in the Sun Belt at the same time we struggle. Why is that?" Another fan offers, "This is because they have so many upperclassmen starters, while we are young...mostly freshmen and sophomores." Then another person chimes in with, "Just wait till we get our FBS recruits on the field. We are playing with FCS recruits."

Wouldn't those Georgia Southern juniors and seniors have been FCS recruits?

yes, but i think the difference between theirs and ours are GaSo was much better at recruiting the last few years under Monken than we were under Jerry. and it's showing when some of our Fr and r-Fr players are beating out the Jr and Sr players

I think the biggest gap in our recruiting was obviously in the offensive line. This was accentuated by a situation with the OL coach and a decline in the S&C program. It is an unfortunate combination of factors, but we should continue getting better.

Georgia Southern did not have those issues, and they also chose to bring in a group of JuCo transfers for this season (6 I think, but I might be mistaken).
