Congratulations and welcome to the Big Time

Unread post by AppSt94 » Sun Oct 12, 2014 2:44 pm

I was unable to watch the game yesterday due to family obligations. I caught the score late last night and like all of you I was not happy. I didn't get angry until this morning and reading this message board. I understand that people are upset with the results on the scoreboard and I understand that wins/losses can cloud ones vision. However I am truly embarrassed to see photos of "For Sale" signs in front of homes representing our coaches. Have we become that fan base? These are human beings with families that are investing in the community. I have seen threats to pull Yosef Club donations and not come to games until we are winning. It's your rights to invest your money anyway you want but who are you really hurting? We have volleyball players, soccer players and T&F athletes that are part of programs that depend on those donations. The things that I have seen on board this morning sounds like things I would expect from SEC fan bases.

SS is one of us and deserves to be treated accordingly. We are a G5 program without deep pockets. Some of you want SS gone well careful what you wish for. Whoever you bring in here will be gone at the first offer from a P5. Someone mentioned bringing in Spier, another FCS coach with has much HC experience as the guy we have now. Winning is not simply corrected by bringing in the next guy. Calm down people. It is just a game.

I don't know about you but anytime you can be compared to the SEC that is a good thing. They are the pinnacle, far from our futility. Our fanbase is far from that of one in the SEC.

Our fans and their hysterical ranting posts are far more embarrassing than anything the team has done this year.

Hands down, without a doubt.

No offense, but wins and losses are the main thing that matters. People are going to get upset and have knee-jerk reactions. We have too many new fans to expect most of them to behave properly. We do need to be patient, think about what we say and support the university we love.

The cognitive disconnect bewteen wanting a big-time coach who would, almost necessarily, command a big-time salary and threatening to pull Yosef donations until we have that coach makes me laugh. If folks want to make a real difference in Appalachian athletics, they should 1) maintain or increase their Yosef donations, 2) show up at as many athletic contests as possible to support our student athletes, and 3) be sure to take advantage of every Yosef gathering to learn what's going on and have the chance to ask questions.

If serving is beneath you, then leading is beyond you.

I hear what your saying but I disagree with the win at all cost or as long as we are winning I can deal with problems. The phrase "winning cures all" is a phrase that I particularly don't enjoy. Winning helps a person be happy and content and causes them to turn a blind eye to what's going on.

Goodness gracious. This is so true.

I would rather sit through that Liberty game again over reading another thread as brain-dead as "Start Kam Bryant!"

The process of becoming a spoiled fan base with winning was fun. Living with them today is a nightmare.
