Re: Time for the App State Football SPRING GAME?
It’s hard to gain much from a practice. My thoughts are that we looked better than last year’s spring practice. I think a part of that is building off of something completely new last season. Whether you agree with who was “cut” or not in the past, the current players were chosen to be on the team by the current staff and the players chose to play for them. That wasn’t the case last year. This created a more team atmosphere I thought.
Performance wise, I thought the QBs were better than last year. I was impressed with the mobility of Singleton and Hasselbeck. There is an aspect to their game that will cause the defense to account for them. The biggest benefit in my opinion will be in the redzone, which can’t really be showcased much in a no-contact spring practice. There was an RPO play in one red zone sequence where singleton likely scores a TD in real life but was called down due to a defender in his area.
I was impressed with the pressure created by the DL. It remains to be seen whether that was more defensive line success or offensive line failure, but I think we have pass rushers. The interior DL will be suspect, especially if there are injuries. The safeties look much more improved.
The kicker has a leg up to 65 yards in a perfect weather situation. He did miss a few wide right, but they were 53 and 60 yards I believe.
The biggest thing I saw was player communication and leadership. Singleton did a great job with this. Poindexter also was coaching up a freshman OL after being penalized and kicked out of the sequence. I hope this carries over to the fall.
Overall, I am optimistic for the season.

I am not sure how this person got this third person account from comparing spring practice to 12 games last year. Borderline ridiculous.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 11:28 amSomeone else's perspective... Whoever this is

I would also say that maybe this isn’t all negative? Swann has arm strength but threw it to the wrong team too many times. I prefer better decision and accuracy.

That synopsis doesn’t sound good. Especially on the lines and in the secondary. Hope that account was just given bad thoughts but they also could be correct. Tough to tell in a practice. Usually you can see talent and speed on display but that’s about it.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 12:12 pmI am not sure how this person got this third person account from comparing spring practice to 12 games last year. Doesn’t make sense how someone can be negative about QBs checking down and then say the secondary didn’t look good. Aren’t the two related? Run game looks bad? Maybe because we were playing 2 guys who won’t see the field due to injury. People just look for negatives. Their twitter name sheds lights onto why.

RB - Lewis, Guest and Angelo primarily. Briefly saw a long run from Burnette but he got banged up and just no reason to risk anything.
WR - pretty much everyone. Austin, Pickett, Lofton, Mbake, Fleming, Coleman, Grier, Sanchez were the primary 8

Will Kanye be back by August?
Is Webb hurt? He was a 4/5*

Seems like it’s simply the other side of your blind cheerleading. Your eternal optimism of all things linked to this staff is commendable but pointing out more critical aspects doesn’t make the poster inherently negative or wrong.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 1:44 pmDoesn’t make sense how someone can be negative about QBs checking down and then say the secondary didn’t look good. Lewis - Burnette - Roberts - Webb would be my guess today. Kanye will be back but it’s hard to project what type of player he will be. We do have solid depth at this position and several others that we didn’t last year.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 2:14 pmAny guess on RB rotation?ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 19, 2026 2:08 pmRB - Lewis, Guest and Angelo primarily. Webb is slowly recovering from an injury last year but he was on the field I believe.

It’s tough to draw conclusions from spring games, given the format and a staff’s propensity to keep its cards close to the chest.

Now that we’re past the spring game and the semester’s winding down, I’m wondering if we can expect any additional roster cuts?
