We often butt heads but I tend to agree with this. A large contingent of our fanbase is ok with upgrades, just don’t ask me to pay for it.

To be fair to our fans, stadium construction around the country is financed increasingly by public funds and not by fans themselves.

The panthers are giving David tapper $650MM in welfare for stadium upgrades.

If that would have been put on fans, they’d have to increase gate receipts by a minimum 50% to pay it off within 15 years at low interest rates.

We have a good number of folks that want to win and grouse when we aren’t that think the solution is for the Ricks, Sofield’s, Byers, Harrils and Combs of the world to just give more.

In the new world the only family that could make us competitive is the Ricks (and not Ricks). I’m not sure what we have to do but I will abase myself. I know combs loves us but he’d have to give a significant chunk of his earnings. PMW could give us what heradvisors find beneath the couch cushions and we’d have a top g level team.

But that’s my point. Why are we relying on a few heavy hitter to keep us afloat? We don’t need a billionaire to keep us relevant in G5. We need some low donor buy in that can be $100 donors now that can grow into multiple $1,000 donors down the road.

We don’t have an engaged fan base with the volumes to compensate.

When you look at the number of donors by levels we strangely aren’t built like a pyramid but more like a bell curve with the fat part of the curve at the $2,500-$3,500 levels.

We have struggled historically to attract a large number of donors that give $100-$500.

That is likely due to the lack of incentives available at those levels.

Parking if we’re being honest with ourselves is the perks covered most by donors and those incentives begin at $1,000.

It’s the plan, but I don't have faith in Gillin to execute said plan. He couldn’t get us into the AAC when the opportunity came up. Staying in the Sun belt long term is a financially terrible decision.

As far as this expansion, it’s a strong no for me as well. Gillin proves time and time again that he is not ready to meet the demands of the new era of college football.

So what? I would imagine that is a pretty universal sentiment in college football.

I’m not sure what the divorce settlement was-but if she could have held on for a few more years blanks NW went up over 10x between 2013 and 2025.

The AAC, MWC and the new PAC have better media deals than the SBC. If things crack in other conferences, SBC will be the 4th choice unless we can get a better media deal with teams coming in.

I really do not think being in any other conference than the Sun Belt is advantageous based solely on travel. It would be interesting to see what the AAC, MWC, and the new PAC spend on average per school for travel compared to conference payout.

All three conference are a shell of their former selves including C-USA, which makes 4.

The Sun Belt is the strongest it has ever been. May not be paid the most but travel has to be some savings.

So that makes it OK? Everyone complains about the wealthy don’t pay their fair share but when they do more of the heavy lifting, the rest still want them to do more.
