JMU is in the same boat as ECU. They believe they should be in the ACC. The powers that be will never let that happen, if ECU ever joins the ACC, it will be because NC State and UNC-Ch are not there anymore. The same with UVA and VT.bcoach wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 3:53 pmThey really are a different breed. Not every one but a very large amount. Many of them think student fees should be as high as possible and if you don't like it find another school. I have a good friend who has a son that went there. If his son brings up football my friend leaves the room. He just can't stand it. They honestly believe they were cheated by having to live with the same rules we had to live with when we moved up. Many of them honestly believe they will be in the ACC in a couple years. The SB is just way below them.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 22, 2026 11:56 amReally? I don’t understand why folks just can’t abide by the rules that they signed up for.

Don’t see a reason why he should piss away his dough on NIL.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2026 1:08 pmI would like to get him donating to NIL and have 2-year contracts for sure. I don't like the FCS comment. It is short sided. We will be in the second tier when all is said and done if we stay where we are. The G6 is our pier level schools. We don't need to be playing Campbell, Elon, Samford, Gardner-Webb, Tenn Tech, etc every week.

Everyone has a valid point. However, we did beat Michigan, which throws out most arguments.Pikapp79 wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 9:40 pmDon’t see a reason why he should piss away his dough on NIL.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 12, 2026 1:08 pmI would like to get him donating to NIL and have 2-year contracts for sure. If you want to stabilize all college football conferences you need automatic qualifiers for the playoffs. If you are in the camp that only a certain group belongs in the playoffs some would never make the playoffs. Even teams that belong do not get the chance sometimes to play, just ask Florida State.
If Appalachian had never played Michigan they never would have beaten Michigan. That is all we really want is the ability to have a chance at the college football playoffs.
The people that are pushing for the G6 playoffs are the same people that are upset that Indiana won the CFP last season.

Re: Luke Combs
I use to be against it but over last 5 years but I am all for it now and I am not upset Indiana won. It was good for the sport. Reality is that we can never win the CFP because if we got a team that could even get close and enough underclassmen to return and finish the job that it would stop before we got to see the next year. Indiana, Miami, Texas Tech, Texas, Michigan, Alabama, Georgia, USC, Ohio State, etc would back up the Brinks Truck and poach us like crazy. We could get to the playoff because of expansion but we will get embarassed when we get there. We can either have a shot at a national title with pier schools in a G6 Playoff or just hope to get one of lowest seeds in the CFP and get beat by 30-40 or so in the first round by a high seed.AppWyo wrote: ↑Wed May 06, 2026 12:37 pmEveryone has a valid point. Apparently Luke showed up at the School of Music graduation ceremony and got an honorary degree.

I was told he wanted to be a part of the ceremony as it was scheduled. Happy to see it.

Re: Luke Combs
During actual graduation makes it feel more valid. The coolest thing is that it is a bachelor's degree and not a doctorate. How many people get an honorary doctorate degree compared to an honorary bachelor's degree?

Re: Luke Combs
Kind of weird they seem to only do the individual schools ceremonies now instead of one big commencement. Seems with some of them being on Thursday and Friday during the day makes it harder for some to attend. My wife wants me to walk in December but it looks like it'll probably be at like 3pm on a Friday which means my 2 youngest would have to miss school for it.

Wasn’t one of the selling points for the convocation center was so we could have one graduation?

Yeah didn't know when it changed to being split, but seems other schools are doing the same.

Re: Luke Combs
Agree with the above. Your kids seeing the culmination of your commitment and dedication to furthering your education is greater than any lesson that they would learn in school that day.

Motivation for the kids, I’m sure there school would give excused absence for college visit.biggie wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 8:51 amKind of weird they seem to only do the individual schools ceremonies now instead of one big commencement. Yeah I will I can't talk wife out of it anyway. I just have to convince her I'm not doing graduation photos like she set up with our daughter for high school last year.Stonewall wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 1:12 pmDo it my friend. 5.5 years for undergrad and 4.5 years for Masters online and will walk 25 years almost to the day after undergrad in Dec '01. I will be glad to be completely done with school.

Re: Luke Combs
Need something to motivate my daughter to do more studying and less partying after this past freshman year she had. 10th grader can probably get an excuse I doubt the 5th grader will get any excuse though.huskie3 wrote: ↑Fri May 08, 2026 1:47 pmWalk!
