What is the difference between G5 wins and P4 wins. Should we get in when playing G5 all year over someone playing P4 all year?

A win is a win a loss is a loss regardless of who it is. The reason we have percentages is to compare things that cannot be compared directly.

Besides list like this are to motivate action and give us something to discuss to distract us from solving the real problems of the world.

If that is true should FCS be eligable for a playoff spot? If Wofford goes undefeated should they get a spot?

The FCS is no involved with the College Football Playoff. They have their own NCAA playoff. You know this. Why are you asking irrelevant questions to argue something irrelevant?

Wyoming is right. Based on wins alone during the CFP era, App is due for involvement. We were very close in 2019. A bit further now, but it’s more possible than ever.

Making the playoff would be transformational for our program and fan base. And yes, we could and should be in it if we meet the criteria, just like Boise last year. Plenty of P4 teams have also been blown out in the first round so the G5 being undeserving argument just doesn’t hold water to me.

There’s a small but vocal segment of our fan base, usually older, that thinks we’re too big for our britches and should know our place, but they’re wrong. This program always finds a way to pull off the “impossible” and that should be our goal.

Valid point. App belongs in the conversation of those seeking a playoff birth but I wouldn't say "deserves". A trip to the playoffs is based on single season performance and we haven't made it there yet. I think we will, but maybe it's just the homer optimism in me.

Valid point. App belongs in the conversation of those seeking a playoff birth but I wouldn't say "deserves". A trip to the playoffs is based on single season performance and we haven't made it there yet. I think we will, but maybe it's just the homer optimism in me.

What you believe often times more important than what is true. App would never have beaten Michigan had they not believed they could.

I’m being a little hyperbolic when I say this, but about the only move I liked outta Shawn Clark for the last few years was him making it known last year that the goal was to be the G5 rep in the playoff. That should be App’s goal. Not reaching it shouldn’t make any season a failure, but that should be the programs goal every year.

The race to be the best non autonomous team may turn out to be more interesting than the autonomous conference race.

I think the main reason conferences did away with divisions is so that they can tweak their schedules so that they have more teams in the playoffs under the guise of having their best teams in the championship game. You tweak the schedule so that you have a better record. Remember last year when everyone said that Indiana did not belong, but the conference made their schedule. It is all smoke and mirrors.

Teams like Liberty have a better chance at making the college football because of the conference they are in than any team in the SBC East, even the SBC as a whole. It will be easier for Liberty to run the table every year than any other non-autonomous team.
