Agree with all of this, but fix the sound system first, please. We have 1 speaker on the scoreboard and that scoreboard is 100+ yards away from most seats.AppDawg wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 6:54 pmAgree with 4k, but my biggest gripe about the + broadcasts is the sound and lack of field level microphones. Cannot hear crowd, cannot hear band, cannot hear pads knocking. The entire atmosphere is missing from the broadcast. I can see it, but I cannot “Feel” it.appdaze wrote: ↑Tue Mar 11, 2025 5:10 pmIf you moved sports to Hickory than the Boone campus would slowly die.
As far as the streaming goes, I wish we would step that up as a program. It wouldn't be all that expensive all things considered to invest in some hi def 4k etc cameras in lots of places around the field and allowing the online viewers to pick a camera angle to watch or watch up to 4 cameras at a time. Have them on center bar on the goal posts like the NFL. Angled from the 4 corners of the field. One on each side of the 50. Make something that gives more value to the streaming platform.
There is A noticeable difference when we are on the Mothership vs. the U and definitely the +.

Not to mention available space to build additional resources such as parking, road widening and hotels. The only real viable space is up and that would be met with resistance from locals.
I wouldn't do it, but there are options there that you don't have in Boone.

Re: ACC
Yes, rivalries need to be played every year to be true rivalries, each team needs to have a win and a loss every four years. That is why Georgia Southern and Appalachian is such a great rivalry. Georgia Southern has four wins in a row, but two of those wins were in the same season. Every player that has ever played for four years for either team since '93 knows the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat...BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:23 pmWinning one game does not make a rivalryAppWyo wrote: ↑Wed Mar 12, 2025 7:15 pmIf App loses to UNCC in Football, that will create an instant rivalry. Yes UNCC has pretty ancient history in bbsll. A really nice Cinderella run in the 70:ms and a good run of tourney teams in the 90s. I think it’s around 30 years since their last tourney win and more than 20 since they last made the tournament.
Davidson has much more recent success

Re: ACC
In our current conference we have 4 rival games, G. southern, JMU, Marshall and CCU. Schedule any other in state school and we will have 5 in a given year. We really are in a conference that can and should be really exciting for our fan base. I view our current conference situation as being somewhat similar to the old ACC in basketball, every game is a big game.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 4:05 pmHow many rivals can we have? Re: ACC
Actually, there are some people who just love to see Appalachian lose. We have won so much some hate App for it. One thing I have missed in the past or misjudged how much jealously plays into how people feel about other people. I mean the Coastal game did not mean that much until we lost to them, but what really hurt is that they became the darling of college football which was our thing after beating Michigan. When Coastal beat BYU we were dethroned.bcoach wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 9:01 pmReally?Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 8:01 pmIn our current conference we have 4 rival games, G. southern, JMU, Marshall and CCU. Georgia Southern hated us a good five years before we even recognized them having a football team.
