Traditions, rivalries, etc.

Does anyone get the sense that traditions or the importance of rivalries will be lost with the constant roster turnover in the transfer portal?

For my fandom, it will not change. From players perspective, maybe...as you do not see/experience the rival for 3 to 4 years ...and not really get to appreciate the rivalry to it's fullest.
Just one person's opinion.

No, because the fans are truly what determine those types of things. There are some cases where what happens on the field/court can spark it like us vs. Louisiana in football for a few years. But most App/UL fans never looked at each other as "rivals."

Not the fans. History, teams and fans. It’s very possible the teams could loose some hate for GSou because of it and in years to come as students do not experience the teams emotion they loose some also. In 20 years it’s just another game.
I really hope not. How can you be an ASU student and not hate GaSou. ? What ever CBF is today it will not be the same thing n 20 years. So for now it’s beat the stinking stinks!! I think the current magnitude of our rivalry games is still intact and will be or has been conveyed to DeeLo.
History, teams, fans/students = rivalry.

Rivalries are fan driven. Look at the rivalry between App and Marshall. That is an old rivalry that is hot now that did not exist until we started playing them recently. Coastal Carolina was not a rivalry until we lost to them. James Madison was an old rivalry, but more so now because we lost to them. Georgia Southern is our main rival because we have played them the most and we seem to lose to them when it matters most, although, they may seem to feel about us the same way.
The Sun Belt East is Rivalry laden for Appalachian right now. The good thing is they see us as a rival and we see them as a rival. One must remember rivalries only exist if the teams play each other and there is a history of winning and losing by both sides. One-way rivals are no fun. There are some schools that really hate Appalachian, because we beat consistently.
Unlike NC State and ECU. One sees one as a rivalry and the other does not.
The Georgia Southern and Appalachian rivalry is the best thing that happened to both schools, because it has made both better.

Georgia Southern and Appalachian game should be called the “Black and Blue Bowl”
With something like an old teachers hand bell as a trophy.

The East , outside probably GState and ODU , sees us as their rival. A couple really hate us , the others do it with a little more respect. My opinion.

No, totally acceptable...the hammer doesn't hate the nail, and the mower doesn't hate the grass.
"Not our rivals....clap, clap...clap clap clap"........despite it's origin, one of the best and most savage chants ever.

Maybe it is good that there is not a good name for this game. "Black and Blue Bowl" sounds like, "The Bruise Bowl." I just would like for it to be as cold and as nasty as it was 5 December 1987.

Traditions will be upheld by the fans. Duke/UNC Cheat in basketball has been going through constant roster turnover for the last 10 years and it's still considered the Standard for Men's Basketball rivalries.

It is the bruise bowl. No love lost either side.
That was great weather for a game.
