I actually think Mountain Music with a couple of tweaks could be great. People know the song and can sing a clap along with it. I may be a little ambitious but maybe we could get Luke Comps to do a cover and rearrange some lyrics. Instead of “float on down the river to our Cajun hideaway” it could be “climb on up the hilltop to our App. State hideaway. And if it didn’t create copy right issues, at the very least we could use AI to change the lyrics. Or maybe get a great local bluegrass band to do a cover.

To each their own, but I absolutely hate the gimmicky mountain music display. Agreed. Cancel Mountain Music. Need some hard rocking music to get the fans in a frenzy... especially the students. The current music choice does none of that. The students would probably want some rapper guy that is horrible based on my college kid and her friends.

The high school kids these days seem to be getting into better music than the generation before them. Many of them are listening to grunge/alternative/indie rock from the 90's. And they all like AC/DC. Let's get back in Back in Black.

Re: Roster/Staff Updates
It's weird how high school kids don't listen to current music. Like, I went through a classic rock phase in high school, but most of my students listen to music- pop, rap, rock, whatever- from 25 years ago. Other than a small handful of major artists, current music isn't connecting with the youths.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 8:15 amThe high school kids these days seem to be getting into better music than the generation before them. Obviously we would get some better players but we didnt win this year and had Marcus and Wilson. Coach Kerns definitely deserves more money to work with.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2026 12:39 pmI have been that way for 3 years now and I am thinking that is how it probably should be for us now. That means that I am much closer to no longer being a fan than to accepting what this has become.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun May 03, 2026 7:26 amWe are in a new era of college football where old expectations need to be removed. Like it or not, we are a minor league division for the big boys. Rosters are going to be revolving doors. That comes with losses such as tradition, culture and inconsistency. 7-5 needs to be the standard mindset of fans.
There is really no excuse for us not to go 6-6 or 7-5 every year in football. It takes good evaluation skills, good S&C program, good recruiting, roster management, and some good in-game coaching. If we somehow have a losing season again I think an autopsy needs to be done in all of those departments and see where we are falling short.
As for basketball, I am wondering what Kerns would put on the court next year if we had took all of our NIL money in football and gave it to him to keep Marcus and Wilson. One thing we know for sure is that Kerns is seeing huge turnover and at least putting a winning team on the floor every year.
So does Baseball.

I am with you here. If not football, it's baseball. The SBC in baseball gives us the best chance to reach a national stage.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 6:46 amFrom my personal perspective, I have not lost interest in terms of commitment. Maybe this is due to the industry that I work that has turnover, etc. or that I grew up near a large military base. As such, we had some turnover of teammates on a yearly basis.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 6:16 amThat seems a bit extreme.bcoach wrote: ↑Mon May 04, 2026 4:56 amIf we go 6-6 every year the stands will have 12 people in them. It will be interesting to see if the younger generation picks up the slack as this will be an environment of all they know.
I do believe.that fans may lose interest over time if we are not winning on a regular basis. However, I think that applies to most programs and not just applicable to App. St.
I am curious to where we stand on the backlog of people wanting season tickets as compared to 3, 5 years ago, etc.
For me, if I were not invested in football, my dollars would go to baseball. If a few more additions to this year's team, I feel like we would be competing for the very top of the conference as well as giving us arms to be more competitive in weekday games.
Funny thing is, we have no money and kinda compete at the top of the conference the past few years. If Marks didn't get hurt again, there's our midweek arm. But with a little more money, maybe we would have the pitching depth to win an SBC tourney or a gauntlet of a regional.
Just a couple hundred grand goes a long way in baseball.
The depth of the lineup is absurd. We have a solid 12-13 starting bats this year.
And we want to talk about Loyalty...
The baseball program remains the most loyal (mostly because you can get drafted from a SBC school because thats how good the ball is). Most everyone has stuck around and finished their careers at App if not for going pro.
Think of all the studs that have come thru and stayed Mountaineers- too many to name.
Only Lichtenberger is really the only one to jump when in reality a lot of guys could have.

I said basketball before but I would have no issue with it going to baseball. I agree with you. The only reason I said basketball is because I want to see what Kerns can do if he could retain his best players just one time. Baseball players do seem to be the most loyal. I would love to see what we could do if we put another 500k in to baseball for a year.311neers wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 10:18 amI am with you here. If not football, it's baseball. With modern technology you could send out a vote before the game with songs from different genres and different times 80,90,00, today. Let the students choose 1/3rd and the season ticket holders choose 1/3 and the football team choose 1/3 of the songs used.

Breaking it up means every year we have a new song or new 3 songs. Let figure out one great song and let it be the song for years... Becomes a tradition...bcoach wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 3:43 pmYou do understand this is a group that can't figure out parking, right?spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue May 05, 2026 2:32 pmWith modern technology you could send out a vote before the game with songs from different genres and different times 80,90,00, today. If we wanted a Luke Combs song...the only Luke Combs song I can think of that is really rocking is "ain't no love in Oklahoma"... However, he would have to re-write the lyrics..
If we did that, no one would know the words. I am envisioning crickets
