Interesting. Any ideas what is attracting alumni to the triangle?
For starters, Wake County is almost double the land size of Mecklenburg so those numbers aren’t surprising. Not sure on population though. The triangle does have a nice draw to it. Hard to go wrong in either City.
Population is close. Wake 1.28M vs Meck 1.26M.
Wake though is growing very rapidly. Some would say it’s too much.
Yes, but isn't Charlotte commutes much more than Meck County?
Yes. You have Cabarrus and Iredell to the north. Union the east. Lincoln and Gastonia to the west and the Fort Mill/Rock Hill area.
And the greater Triangle brings in Durham and Orange, Johnston Co, Harnett Co, etc.
My original point remains by bringing the attention to the number of Alumni in (and around Wake County).
The greater Charlotte area gets a lot of attention and it makes sense because it has historically been the overwhelming largest alumni base & it’s convenient to Boone (easy access). Wake and the Triangle area takes more effort (not an easy day trip), hence my comment being underserved despite the Alumni base in this area being on the heels of Charlotte in numbers. When I graduated in early 2000’s Fortsyth/Greensboro was the 2nd largest.
