Can you really trust anything that is posted on App State Mania 247 Sports? The site has Zack Kittley listed as the head coach. https://247sports.com/college/appalachi ... l/commits/

11th in HS recruiting, 2nd in transfers IN.
I don't put a lot of stock in rankings, but seems we did ok in the TP.

With what we lost, we had lots of immediate playing time as a starter to offer.

He can’t recruit and doesn’t develop his players. His playcalling is also suspect.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - IN
The scholarship roster currently sits at 76
16 seniors
15 juniors
16 Sophomores
20 RS Freshmen
9 Freshmen
Amending since Harrington and Hetzel entered the portal. Also adjusted class size due to formula error.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - IN
Pretty impressive that most of the young guys stuck around even with the coaching change.
36 RS Freshman and Soph. Seems like a even balance but just looking at these numbers we might seem light on experience still.
33 upper classmen and 45 underclassmen. Whats the scholarship limit number again? And do you think we will add more in the spring portal? If so, HS or Portal or a mix of both?

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - IN
Just speculation on my part but I think that the portal is a very risky option for guys with little to no tape to show potential suitors. I’d also expect that some could leave after spring ball once they have a chance to see how they fit. Better to have a spot than risk not having one.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 9:04 amPretty impressive that most of the young guys stuck around even with the coaching change.

The limit is 85 for now. I’m sure that there will be some adds and deletions after spring ball. Looking at the roster breakdown, I’d say LB and maybe OL and CB would be spots that they look for High School talent.

That's a nice mix of players by class. All in all less volatility than one might anticipate with a coaching change. Could be the difference in your coach getting poached vs. being asked to leave. I.e. JMU last year and Marshall this year.

Re: App Transfer Portal 2025 - IN
Would have been great to have him around the program for his 7th year as he is an excellent leader. But, put me in the camp that we needed 2 new linebackers for next year. Needs to be an age boundary in CFB just like there is in NFL. You can't enter the NFL unless you're 3 years removed from HS. College needs to adopt an age limit of 23 years old or something. It's killing high school kids to keep letting 23-28 year olds play. A little different for the academies and religion schools that serve and come back at age 26...not sure how you monitor that.
Haynes, Farrar, Gooch, and McKinnis can battle it out now.

Completely agreed. We have young pieces who can step up with the right coaching. Attrition was needed in the room. I didn’t believe it would come from Harrington, but here we are. Nothing surprises me anymore.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:08 amWould have been great to have him around the program for his 7th year as he is an excellent leader. Don’t forget about Bethea and Littlejohn. Arnholt and Sullivan still have eligibility and no announcement of intentions at this point.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2025 11:08 amWould have been great to have him around the program for his 7th year as he is an excellent leader.
