We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

JUst be a good player and team
We all saw the issues within college football this weekend..... IF WE HAD beaten GS I would have been embarrassed, as an alum, for our players to plant a flag on their field. One U Of M players said the other team needed to learn to be better losers. I submit, It is the winners on 3 rival fields should be BETTER WINNERS. Celebrate with your fans (as we did at UNC).......... Coaches are a parental figures in these players lives; and should be the first to teach this type of action could get them Benched. Or loss of NIL $

All hatred for that damn school aside. Be the bigger AND BETTER person. We play there for four hours. They are the stupid University that can't fix the drainage issue they have. I just hope My APP STATE NEVER does such stupid disrectful action on a opposition field.

As disrespectful as planting a flag at midfield could be, planting that plunger elevated the shade throwing to a whole new level.

Re: JUst be a good player and team
Ohio State, UNC, Florida State, etc. all had the chance to stop their rivals from planting the flag on their field. It was during the 60 minutes of football prior to the flag planting. If you lose, you can't get mad when the other team rubs your face in it. Like Steve Spurrier said when asked about running up the score, if you don't want them to score, play better defense.

Re: JUst be a good player and team
Has anyone ever looked inward at the language we use in these rivalries as fans and really never thought it would eventually affect the games
Deeper than hate, Good ole fashion hate ect… and not to mention the language students and fans use to describe other fan bases. When you make a big deal out of the hate and importance of the game to bragging rights for the year, shit like this happens.
While I have yelled many a crazy line at games and typed my fair share of snarky bs I do laugh at the pearl clutching by the announcers and others on this board when players manifest these comments and attitudes.

Right?! The commentators spend 3 hours talking about "these teams really DO NOT like each other" and "all the talk and bragging comes down to this!" Then a player or two gets a little out of control and all of a sudden "Oh no! How dare they express emotion in a way I deem inappropriate!"BTK2000 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 10:03 amHas anyone ever looked inward at the language we use in these rivalries as fans and really never thought it would eventually affect the games

It makes me glad I stopped watching pregame shows a few years back.MrCraig wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 10:38 amRight?! Re: JUst be a good player and team
The funniest part is that many of the fields have artificial turf and a flag can't even be planted in it. If you don't want the opposing team showing you up on your field then I suggest you play better. News flash Ohio State and others, the disrespect was beating your A$$ on your field as a double digit underdog, the flag was just the icing. Do better and you won't have to worry about these issues.

Re: JUst be a good player and team
After that accused Halloween 2019 game and App players and staff had left the field, Georgia Southern players tried to plant their flag at the KBS 50, but couldn't because it was turf. One of their coaches, I believe Sloan funny enough, yelled at them to stop it.

“50% of college football players are thugs or at least have some thug in them.” (I forgot who said that - some coach I believe). So $£!# is gonna happen. What are we going to do? Be a part of it until it escalates and stuff happens like it’s happening at European and South American soccer games? Or show some sportsmanship?

Re: JUst be a good player and team
As an athlete I never really got hating the opposing players or team. After all the guys on the opposing team were a lot like me. Don’t get me wrong, I tried like hell to beat the other guy into submission but it was just a competitive thing. The only thing that would get me really mad was if guys took cheap shots to try to take out a knee or something like that. I actually felt it was more intimidating to knock a guy down and then smile at him and help him up as if it was nothing. We justify sports in college by saying they make people better, more well rounded. I’m for that actually being true.

With all the ugliness last week expect a rule change over the off-season prohibiting the practice. If coaches can’t or will not control their players universities should have to pay up. Levy a few large fines and the practice will stop.

This might be the most outwardly racist shit I have ever seen on Yosef’s cabin.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Mon Dec 02, 2024 7:11 pm“50% of college football players are thugs or at least have some thug in them.” (I forgot who said that - some coach I believe). Re: JUst be a good player and team
That was a quote from some coach or pontificator. I’m trying to find it. If you look at the lack of sportsmanship on the field nowadays you may can see how some look at it. Ain’t nothing racist in the comment. Maybe that comes from your heart.
