Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
Thank you DG for scheduling a P5! Truly appreciate the work to get us a new opponent that wants to play in Boone.
That said it's games like this that will drive the next revolution in CFB. There is no reason we should be playing a team from Oregon and Idaho in the same year. There are literally 50+ schools closer that would be a better option. But b/c of greedy TV execs and truly scared & wimpy ADs/coaches we play teams from 2000 miles away.
It's a compliment to our success and a insult to rational and competitive nature.

Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
After taking a look around their web pages and such, and in all fairness to Lindenwood, they look like the St. Charles version of Gardner-Webb. Why we had to jump all the way to MO to find a cheap FCS…not sure? Maybe Gillin had some exhibition scheduling and that sort of thing with them when he was at Mizzou? Maybe Lindenwood just offered the cheapest deal, even with travel, as they try to build their brand? I dunno…

Yes and no. We host a team from the PNW and we travel to one. Doesn’t matter much as long as we aren’t going twice. College, despite all the NLI and money is still a chance to experience things one wouldn’t be able to do otherwise. I like these opportunities for our guys. I’ve never been to Oregon or Idaho, but I’d like the chance to go one day.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:49 pmThank you DG for scheduling a P5! OK sure I'll get in board with this train if thought to an extent...It shouldn't be the same year though.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 6:09 pmYes and no. Again it's a damn shame that we can't get a team on the East Coast to play us.

Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
In all fairness, we had an in-state P5 scheduled and they pushed the game out, so this is the replacement. Finding ANY decent team on short notice to replace that game is a HUGE win! The collapse of the PAC12 helped us out. Great job, DG!

We played Howard University from Washington DC a few years ago. Is that not East Coast enough?kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 10:34 pmOK sure I'll get in board with this train if thought to an extent...It shouldn't be the same year though.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 6:09 pmYes and no. Bootsy even you could have scheduled this game, Oregon State has no conference, they are begging for games. They play WASSU two times, no one does that in college. Some things have just fell in DG's lap, add this to the list.

Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
I kid you not....about a month ago I was talking with a guy I work with and I asked him where he went to college and he said "it is a small college that you will have never heard of, Lindenwood". And now we are playing. He and I have had some good laughs about it. I have to say, he is one of the best people in our company. They turn out good workers based on my sample size of 1.

Corvallis is a great visit. 50 miles to the coast. Good Willamette Valley wine. Nice town that will remind you of Boone. Mt. Hood and the Columbia River is an easy drive. Damn, now I can’t wait to go back.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 6:09 pmYes and no. We host a team from the PNW and we travel to one. Doesn’t matter much as long as we aren’t going twice. Yeah, already planning ahead to try and make that game. As a vacation spot, the pacific northwest is highly underrated.proasu89 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 10:40 amCorvallis is a great visit. 50 miles to the coast. Good Willamette Valley wine.
