Some of you guys sound just like the doofus cheerleader from Texas A&M before our football game with them a few years ago.

My wife couldn’t give a rip about football but she loves wine, so it’s already determined we’re going to this one .proasu89 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 29, 2024 10:40 amCorvallis is a great visit. 50 miles to the coast. Good Willamette Valley wine. Nice town that will remind you of Boone. Mt. Hood and the Columbia River is an easy drive. Damn, now I can’t wait to go back.AppinVA wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 6:09 pmYes and no. We host a team from the PNW and we travel to one. Doesn’t matter much as long as we aren’t going twice. College, despite all the NLI and money is still a chance to experience things one wouldn’t be able to do otherwise. I like these opportunities for our guys. I’ve never been to Oregon or Idaho, but I’d like the chance to go one day.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:49 pmThank you DG for scheduling a P5! Truly appreciate the work to get us a new opponent that wants to play in Boone.
That said it's games like this that will drive the next revolution in CFB. There is no reason we should be playing a team from Oregon and Idaho in the same year. There are literally 50+ schools closer that would be a better option. But b/c of greedy TV execs and truly scared & wimpy ADs/coaches we play teams from 2000 miles away.
It's a compliment to our success and a insult to rational and competitive nature.

Hopefully we are starting to scout some Pop Warner 10u to find a quarterback for that game.

But please explain how it's great for our players? They will have to miss at least 2 whole days of class to travel all day to get to Boise/Corvallis. Play at altitude in an off hour they don't normally play at with little to no fan support in stadium...Then the return will likely be in the middle of the night to arrive very early.
There is a reason this is called a "video game matchup"
Again TY to DG and co for setting this up. I appreciate all the work done. I view this as an indictment of our success and the lack of courage by teams closer to want to play us.

Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
Students, especially athletes rarely have Friday classes. I bet most don't have a class after 2PM on Thursday. We would take a charter out late Thursday or maybe even early Friday with the time change.
Our students miss less class than schools in the AAC due to the tight regional nature of our division.

Some of the most fun away trips were the ones to P5 schools, especially if you win them. Taking a plane, playing in a nice stadium, traveling for 2-3 days with your brothers.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 7:11 amProgram exposure is a positive...asumba95 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 4:26 pmI think playing OSU and Boise State is great for our players and program exposurekornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:49 pmThank you DG for scheduling a P5! We didn't think twice about class or school or what we were missing haha. I will never forget our trip to LSU back in 2012.

Once you get on a plane, distance really doesn’t matter. This is a great opportunity for our players to see somewhere they may never get to see again. Michigan isn’t really in our regional footprint, but I’d argue it was a good decision to take that trip.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 7:11 amProgram exposure is a positive...asumba95 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2024 4:26 pmI think playing OSU and Boise State is great for our players and program exposurekornegaylw wrote: ↑Wed Oct 23, 2024 4:49 pmThank you DG for scheduling a P5! $25M gift for Boise State. Only posting because we play them/ we were tracking to almost be a Boise a few years ago. Whew. We’ve got work to do, and then some.

Re: Future scheduling announcements soon
As an Oregon resident and Yosef Club member, I'm very pleased to see two games on the schedule within a 6 hours drive. The two games against Idaho didn't have many App fans but we had lots of folks at Wyoming. I had great experiences at both locations. The basketball game in Corvallis was fun too.
