I believe it depends on on the lense you viewed the email. It is giving you three options. Donate to athletics department, get cash and donate it a community cause, or get refund and pocket the cash. Those options are always available.
Not trying to be pedantic, but there was not an option for "get cash and donate to a community fund". There was however, an option to donate $5 to the Athletic Dept.

I point out that distinction because it's much easier and painless to "click to donate to a community fund" than it will be to get a refund then #1 find a community fund, #2 figure out how to donate to said fund, and #3 actually make the donation. I suspect many will have the best intentions but will ultimately get a refund and not redirect.

Good point. It struck me as why even have an option to donate to athletic department. Perfect opportunity for university to raise funds to donate to the community.

I realize there was not a button option. However, there are 3 options as I outlined. If someone is swayed to not contribute their refund due to a link to contribute....they were not really invested to contribute in the first place.
Could they have a button?, sure...does it matter to me that they do not. Not so much. .. individuals that are going to contribute their refund are going to do so...the ones that want get a refund and pocket it ...are going to do so ..just my opinion.

The option to donate to a community fund is there independent of a refund. Adding a button for a community fund donation 100% increases the likelihood for someone to donate. Really no reason not to add it. Clearly a miss by the Athletic Dept.

True, except the time change doesn't occur until the 3rd. However, it is a reasonable time slot with all that has gone on this fall.

Forgot about it not changing until that night. Need to go back to time change before Halloween, can be done early with dark trick or treating.
