Jerry Moore is not walking back through that door
Jerry Moore retired at the top of the world for App football. The culture he created was incredible. We all cherish it. Through all the ups and downs over those 24 seasons, his character stood strong, and it paid off. Even in the end, that old dog was finally convinced to learn a new trick (spread) and put the icing on the cake of his 215–87 final record.
He is done. Stop trying to replace him with former App guys desperately grasping for what once was.
We got lucky with Satterfield, but as soon as his success allowed, he was offered money no sane man could refuse. He was able to keep the culture afloat through his own ups and downs, but it was changing by the end of his tenure.
Eli was a great choice, whether people want to admit that or not. I'm sorry he got money thrown his way sooner than Satt and bounced, but don't feel butthurt thinking that non-App grads are going to be bad apples. We need new blood.
There is no excuse for what is happening with all the athletic talent on this team. The same in-game coaching mistakes are repeated over five years. Year in and year out, the same mistakes. Even if we pull a miracle and get 8-9 wins this season, I'm just done with it.
The Jerry Moore culture is gone. It's not coming back, especially in this new era of college football. Please, no more attempted retreads of Jerry Moore. Look outside of Appalachian State. I want a hungry lion ready to rise, even if they leave in 3-5 years due to success.

As much as I wanted it to work …this is the best post to date. Let’s move on from this campfire dirty sweatshirt crap it isn’t working. This is a hard night for me. I should have been working today but instead my blood pressure is probably setting records. Goodnight.appdaze wrote: ↑Thu Sep 19, 2024 8:31 pmJerry Moore retired at the top of the world for App football. The culture he created was incredible. We all cherish it. I couldn’t have said it better myself. We tried the experiment time and time again and it has finally proven that it doesn’t work.

Re: Jerry Moore is not walking back through that door
the Ho Hum days of AppState were over when Satt started getting looks from P5s.
Drink is exactly what our team needed, an up and coming coach looking to audition for a bigger job and picking our school as a winning program to get him there. We can make that work, we have the brand to make that work. The brand is being torched with the brutal beatings we're getting on the national stage. I said it when we hired him, we hired the App guy, not the right guy.

What does hiring the dink type guy do for recruiting?mtoddsolomon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:31 amthe Ho Hum days of AppState were over when Satt started getting looks from P5s.

Re: Jerry Moore is not walking back through that door
if he is a winner like Drink the recruits will come. Whether HS or TP. Everyone acts like he was the worst recruiter but we don't know that. He definitely missed on his QB, but he had 1 class here. Missouri has recruited just fine against their SEC peers.bcoach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 1:50 pmWhat does hiring the dink type guy do for recruiting?mtoddsolomon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:31 amthe Ho Hum days of AppState were over when Satt started getting looks from P5s.

Who has recruited better the last five years relative to their peers, Drink or Clark?

Re: Jerry Moore is not walking back through that door
If you win you get money and recruits. We have to realize that we are a stepping stone and simply embrace the reality of it all. We just got absolutely physically dominated by a peer university. I would say recruiting isn’t going so well under the current model.bcoach wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 1:50 pmWhat does hiring the dink type guy do for recruiting?mtoddsolomon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:31 amthe Ho Hum days of AppState were over when Satt started getting looks from P5s.

Dude, your schtick is old and over. You don't know squat and have proven that time and time again. You cry with every excuse and make your idol, Clark, out to be some victim. At this point just piss off with all that mess and stop pretending to be an Appalachian State fan. Move on to troll some other teams fan message board.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 4:28 pmThank goodness - he was overrated except when he had Armanti Edwards.

Re: Jerry Moore is not walking back through that door
The Drinkwitz hire is what got us in proposed supposed mess we are in, because he took a program built by an App Guy and used it all up. Had Shawn Clark been hired originally we would be doing all right now. The sky is not falling. Appalachian will be just fine...mtoddsolomon wrote: ↑Fri Sep 20, 2024 9:31 amthe Ho Hum days of AppState were over when Satt started getting looks from P5s.

Not dink but dink type. In other words what does a new coach every couple years do to recruiting?

Re: Jerry Moore is not walking back through that door
What does a mediocre coach who has no desire to move up do for recruiting?
