I have one question
Why has Clemson been able to throw LONG touchdowns over and over in 2015 and yesterday without App adjusting?
We might be giant killers sometimes but we also allow teams to throw LONG touchdowns over and over again..... it just never ends.... Clemson must have been laughing when they kept on doing it.
It's not funny

Serious question in response but how do you adjust? We committed to stopping the run so you stack the box. We stuff the run and they go with long balls to receivers in 1-on-1 situations. They go long 2x and we take a guy out of the box and Mafah goes to the house for 80 yards.

Yeah hard to blame the overall plan. Stop Mafah and make clubnik beat us with his arm. Well beat us he did.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:24 pmSerious question in response but how do you adjust? We just don’t have the personnel to match up with a top p4 team on top of their game.

Re: I have one question
Some times you just have to tip your hat, take the check and get out of town. The Clemson fanbase was down on Dabo and Klubnik after last week. Dabo came out stating that Cade didn’t play bad. Sounds like he was right.BallantyneApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:28 pmYeah hard to blame the overall plan. Stop Mafah and make clubnik beat us with his arm. Even though the rest of their schedule is a cake walk, he will struggle once or twice. He’s somewhere in between what he was vs. UGA and App.

Re: I have one question
Even after UGA I expected Clemson to go 9-3 this year. They should not lose more than 2 games and they could run the table. I am hopeful they are just a top 10 team who lost to the eventual champs and we can make a run here against G5s.

Re: I have one question
Correct, they can run the table. But we were talking about Cade, not Clemson as a whole. He’s closer to an average QB that a good one. We just made him look extremely good.

Re: I have one question
Certainly you have to pick your poison, but rarely if ever did I see our DBs jam the receiver off the line when in man coverage. If they aren't giving a cushion, they sure as heck can't give a free release. No safety help over the top wasn't a good recipe either.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:24 pmSerious question in response but how do you adjust? Re: I have one question
On the first pass play for td, we sent 6 to the QB. No one got close. Those were some big athletic guys. 2 had all day to throw.
If Clemson can keep the rush from him, 2 is a good QB.

Re: I have one question
Go back and watch I think it was the 3rd or 4th TD. Long pass down the App sideline. Yowe was the DB to that side and he was in press coverage but he didn’t jam him for sure. Safeties were always in bad angles trying to help.AppDub wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 1:30 pmCertainly you have to pick your poison, but rarely if ever did I see our DBs jam the receiver off the line when in man coverage. Excellent speed causes bad defensive angles as we saw on more plays than not.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:34 pmGo back and watch I think it was the 3rd or 4th TD. Re: I have one question
Our safeties look like infielders playing outfield trying to track a fly ball. Some of the worst angles and routes Ive seen. Honestly, the 3rd play of the game should have been an INT.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:34 pmGo back and watch I think it was the 3rd or 4th TD. Long pass down the App sideline. Is there a way to defend it, and keep the receivers in front of us?

Re: I have one question
Looked like App decided to make the Clemson QB beat them, hoping he couldn’t make accurate throws all night. Unfortunately, he made the throws all night.
It also didn’t help that we had zero pass rush for most of night.
I don’t think it was a bad game plan, probably what I would have done considering Cade’s struggles.
Bottom line, Clemson played great in a game they had to win.
I think we’ll learn more about App in the ECU game than we learned in the first two games.
If we don’t bounce back with a win, I fear we may not be the team we’re all hoping for, time will tell.
Go App!

Re: I have one question
I tend to wonder if he is right but agree with you that we need to see more. We will likely know where we are going to stand over the next 3 games. ECU will tell us a lot. If ECU beats us by 2-3 TDs then I will start to doubt and if we lose to Liberty or South Alabama then we will know. I need to see it happen first. I expect a double digit win this weekend.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:21 pmI’ll reserve judgement until we play some peer schools.PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:19 pmI think you hit it on the head. . . Re: I have one question
I don’t like to put expectations on a score because stuff happens. One thing that stood out to me during the game Saturday night and that I have gone back and forth on what does it mean is that Clemson didn’t really move up and down the field on us. Is that a positive? Is it a negative? I can’t figure it out. It could be that they didn’t have too because of explosive plays which feel like it was more of an overmatched situation. If that’s the case, then as it relates to App, were they that much more talented than us or are we not that talented? Given that they played Georgia heads up in the first half, makes me lean to the former. If we can correct the alignments in assignments and prevent the big hitters, I don’t think that Garcia and the ECU offense can march down the field on us.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 2:02 pmI tend to wonder if he is right but agree with you that we need to see more.
