A lot can happen for sure but I would be very disappointed if they beat us based on the last couple years. It would tell me we have taken steps back and they have taken steps forward to beat us. I don't expect ECU to march down the field on us a lot. It will likely happen once but I really don't expect that to a lot. We will have an idea of how good we are over the next 3 games but as we learned last year we could see a big turn around.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 2:22 pmI don’t like to put expectations on a score because stuff happens. One thing that stood out to me during the game Saturday night and that I have gone back and forth on what does it mean is that Clemson didn’t really move up and down the field on us. Is that a positive? Is it a negative? I can’t figure it out. It could be that they didn’t have too because of explosive plays which feel like it was more of an overmatched situation. If that’s the case, then as it relates to App, were they that much more talented than us or are we not that talented? Given that they played Georgia heads up in the first half, makes me lean to the former. If we can correct the alignments in assignments and prevent the big hitters, I don’t think that Garcia and the ECU offense can march down the field on us.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 2:02 pmI tend to wonder if he is right but agree with you that we need to see more. Excellent speed causes bad defensive angles as we saw on more plays than not.
Is there a way to defend it, and keep the receivers in front of us?

Agreed. We are 1-1. Which is where we likely were going to be anyways. No need to hit the panic button or call in the lawyers yet.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 2:49 pmA lot can happen for sure but I would be very disappointed if they beat us based on the last couple years. Re: I have one question
We have next tier talent on defense. The 3 guys up front offered no challenge to their 5, nobody commands a double team. Then bring 2 backers and they still get nothing. That leaves some bad single coverage playing off the receivers. In addition to the long ball how many 8 yard out passes did they easily execute? Upper tier P4 talent with pro prospects versus next tier G5 slower all around talent. Ask why teams in our conference hit long passes as well.

If we lose 1 of the next 3 there will be a sizable panic but won’t be devistating. A team we should beat away, and then 2 home games.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 4:07 pmIf we lose 2 or 3 of the next 4 then I would hit panic for sure.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 3:37 pmAgreed. If this team is who we were told they were, we need to be sitting 4-1 heading into October with away games at Marshall and UL up next. The final 3 games are tough.

Re: I have one question
I’d say CCU, Marshall, and GS are trending better than expected. USA, GA St, and JMU worse, with the ODU and ULL as expected.

Re: I have one question
No adjustment to be made technically by the coaches, it came down to the DB made poor decision on first TD and 2nd TD was all speed and bad angle. The safety knows not to let a man behind him. Players have to think while playing the game.PhillyApp1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 12:01 pmWhy has Clemson been able to throw LONG touchdowns over and over in 2015 and yesterday without App adjusting?
We might be giant killers sometimes but we also allow teams to throw LONG touchdowns over and over again..... it just never ends.... Clemson must have been laughing when they kept on doing it.
It's not funny
The secondary is really new this year and the best team on schedule took advantage of it.

Re: I have one question
I also dont think our guys expected Wesco Jr (a freshman in his first start) to run circles around them. I believe they underestimated him and once he did his thing.....well....it deflated them.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 5:13 pmNo adjustment to be made technically by the coaches, it came down to the DB made poor decision on first TD and 2nd TD was all speed and bad angle. Re: I have one question
It would be devastating to our postseason aspirations and to be ranked but not to the Sun Belt. The end of the year is going to be tough with a lot of teams looking for revenge. We do need to win the next 4 games for sure.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Sep 10, 2024 5:03 pmIf we lose 1 of the next 3 there will be a sizable panic but won’t be devistating.
