Draft Picks
I wonder how many First Round Draft Picks the Tigers had on their team tonight?

Re: Draft Picks
Even if they had 10 or 15 , aren’t we supposed to at least compete with those teams now? I’m not really sure why anyone would even try to make an excuse for what happened last night. I feel like we embarrassed and set back the G5 as a whole last night, just awful. If what we saw last night was one of the top G5 teams playing one of the top P4 teams then the G5 sure as hell doesn’t deserve a spot in the playoffs!

Re: Draft Picks
Maybe LB Carter and then Westco down the line as well but definitely agree they are not some stacked team. They are legit top 25 but not as good as that Michigan team we played in 2007.

Re: Draft Picks
Clark said that they had a potential 4 first round draft picks on the team. This was in an after game interview.

Re: Draft Picks
Lets see how the season unfolds, I think they are better than the UM team we played - different era now though the game has evolved..

What if we had those first round draft picks? Don't you think Clark would have done at least a little better?

Re: Draft Picks
I would hope so but to the best of my knowledge we have never had a first round draft pick. So how did we get it done before?NewApp wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 2:21 pmMjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 9:14 amEven if they had 10 or 15 , aren’t we supposed to at least compete with those teams now? Re: Draft Picks
That is a fact. We have had a 33rd pick but nobody in round 1. Michigan had several first round picks and NFL veterans but we somehow beat them in 2007.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 4:26 pmI would hope so but to the best of my knowledge we have never had a first round draft pick. But we did have several NFL caliber guys on that 2007 FCS team.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 5:24 pmThat is a fact. We have had a 33rd pick but nobody in round 1. Re: Draft Picks
We definitely did. We had a lot of PFAs and Day 3 guys. Quick was on that team and did contribute a blocked field goal.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 5:46 pmBut we did have several NFL caliber guys on that 2007 FCS team.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 5:24 pmThat is a fact. Re: Draft Picks
Answer, we didn't always get it done. Sometimes yes, sometimes no. When we beat the Wolverines, the same season we lost to little ol Wofford.Mjohn1988 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 4:26 pmI would hope so but to the best of my knowledge we have never had a first round draft pick. Re: Draft Picks
Poor guy also dropped a wide open pass in the end zone that probably would have sealed the victory. But then we would have never had that game ending and winning field goal block.AppStFan1 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 08, 2024 7:37 pmWe definitely did. We had a lot of PFAs and Day 3 guys. Re: Draft Picks
My take on our roster if you just look at different position groups is that by far our weakness is our secondary (and has been for years). For whatever reason this group gets burned repeatedly, not only Saturday but in other games against lesser quarterbacks and lesser receivers. We have some dudes who would rather do that arm waving celebration after a bad pass indicating that they actually broke up or adequately defended the pass. I have no real idea how to coach or play the position of corner or safety but simple logic says you need to turn your hips and run with the dude you are covering. My logic also says that it’s crucial to communicate coverages back there and not simply let a guy of near equal speed run down a seam and get wide ass open. If we just don’t have 4 guys who are at the level needed then we are in deep trouble because this certainly won’t be the last team to challenge us with deep balls.
