And if we don't win what it what do want to happen?
I really don't like ultimatums like that b/c it takes nothing into account about the season as a whole or what could come next.

That makes sense. Problem is that there is a large contingent of folks on here that were given the reasons why for 2022 and they didn’t want to hear it.Stonewall wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 2:06 pmWin it. Stroman has averaged 19.5 ypc in each of his two seasons. I would argue he's pretty much the opposite of a possession receiver.kornegaylw wrote: ↑Mon Jul 08, 2024 9:03 amStroman is a possession receiver in the scenarios that fit him best. It was difficult to see in the bowl game because of the weather and field conditions but he is seemingly unstoppable in the slot. Teams are going to have to scheme to double him and then guys like Jackson and Fowles are going to need to step up and Joey will need to mature enough to not force it to KR and let the other playmakers take over.
Joey staying healthy is uber critical for the success of this team, but I do feel that Wiles can steer the ship if needed.
I'm excited to see how the transfers Fowles and Short play into things and if any of the new Freshmen like Leon or Coakley can break into the rotation.
They will have to scheme him and that will leave guys like Horn and Jackson free. Stroman is just who he is. That’s not intended to be a knock on him, because he has the best hands on the team. But there are limitations to what he is capable of that limits what most want him to become. I’ve heard great things about Fowles and he and Lawson will likely factor, along with Hetzel.
I expect Leon to RS. Too much traffic in front of him to rush him. They like Short so we will see.
Shorts story reminds me of KRs... Hopefully he can find his lane and contribute.
I don't know what "limitations to what he is capable of" 94 is referring to. But I would caution against the "he just is who he is" line of thought. Guys mature at different rates, and the light bulb doesn't always come on at the same time for everyone. I think Stroman has plenty of room for growth. Whether he realizes that full potential, who knows.

My thoughts: I am looking forward to the season, and I think the team will win a lot of games.

Yes. You are correct. The light bulb does come on at different times for different players. I am saying that this may be what he is. Not a bad thing. It’s just not a light bulb thing for him.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Tue Jul 09, 2024 4:22 pmStroman has averaged 19.5 ypc in each of his two seasons. Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
We underperformed in 2022 (and other years), no need rehash that I hope.
Last year's class was the first class since 2004 to not receive a conference championship ring, let's not make this a streak.

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
Team went 6-1 in it’s last 7 of last year so it seems like that investment is paying off. They seem to be the right pieces to the puzzle. Whether the record going forward validates or changes this train of thought remains to be seen I guess.
Can this team win 12,13,14 games? Quite possibly. This would require a great deal of fortune to get it done.

6-1 was a nice finish and I like using the record as a barometer of good and poor performance.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 11:18 amTeam went 6-1 in it’s last 7 of last year so it seems like that investment is paying off. Very excited to see how this year plays out after the change last year. Have lots of talent on this roster.

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
That is such a heavy handed way to measure success. Too many variables that can, and will change as the season progresses. Is this offense as good with Wiles running it than it is with Joey? I personally don’t think so. I feel better with him as QB2 than I did with White, but he isn’t Joey.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 1:08 pm6-1 was a nice finish and I like using the record as a barometer of good and poor performance.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 11:18 amTeam went 6-1 in it’s last 7 of last year so it seems like that investment is paying off. 6-1 is evidence that it’s paying off. No excuses or spin.
There are many variables. And good programs win titles.
Win.

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
I need to see how well the OL/DL preforms yet before declaring 12+ wins.
There's a lot of talent on the roster, but Championships are won in the trenches. Hard for me to expect a SBC Championship if we don't have 1 of the top OLs/DLs in conference. Was the difference in the Troy game last year I thought.
The OL is WAY too big of a question mark to me making any championship or bust comments for me.

The defense is my question. The offense is going to put up 28 to 35 per game. Can the defense give up less than 28?

28? That’s piss poor for our standards. Or our old standards.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Fri Jul 12, 2024 2:28 pmThe defense is my question. The offense is going to put up 28 to 35 per game. Can the defense give up less than 28?

Re: Thoughts on the season/Team?
Our defense over the last 5 or 6 games last season was much improved. IF our defense continues to gel and we give up less than 20 per contest, I think that anything is possible for this team this season. Don't let Joey near a lawn mower this summer and keep him standing and we're good.
