That night in Monroe is etched in my memory. Watching his dad stand in stunned silence as we are celebrating with him. And him with the game ball in hand and tears in his eyes telling me about how rewarding it felt to see his son silence his critics with that kick. These kids put up with a lot thanks to social media. It was a very sobering moment to see how that affected my friend.

Ha. We were in line and I knew he was a football player. I started the conversation with, “I’m surprised they through the out route.” He responded that he in the right place to make the pick. So I summized that he must be Rico.

He was a good one. A very good one.
