Spring Ball starts in a week.

Replacing Parker and Ross are going to be important. Other than that, I think the only major question mark is QB2. From all accounts, White has the talent and toughness to be that guy. We will see if he can pick up the offense.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 10:54 amThose two are key to our success. I get that we are talented in the skill positions...will not matter if the trenches are a weakness.
I also want to see secondary replacements with 4 and 2 using up all their eligibility if memory serves me accurately.
And LB ... replacing Parker.
Agreed but I fully expect the Texas transfer to be QB2. I am wondering if we keep or lose McHugh after the spring.appstate24 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:28 amThose would be my biggest question marks. Also excited to see who emerges as QB2.
GO APPS!!
Pretty much. We are getting Texas’ QB4 this year. McHugh hasn’t taken a live snap in going on 4 years now. I’m not sure what the advantage of transferring would be for him, provided that it would be his decision to do so.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:56 amIt's reached a point where QB3, 4, etc for good teams will either include new guys every season or the occasional pretty good player who is the consummate team guy who is content to fill the usual roles.
Isn't McHugh to be a RS FR this year (2024). So, if he does not play this year or next year (Texas guy wins starting job for commentary sake), McHugh would have 2 more years as a starter..,.take out debate competition for starter, etc. Let's assume he wins...That is not too bad ...I get it ..the kids want to play right away...but, in grand scheme of things....not bad just my opinionAppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 12:01 pmPretty much. Say your situation plays out in that manner. Would there be a level of comfort in starting a guy that hasn’t played in 4 years? He was a senior in high school in 2022 and didn’t play. He was a Freshman here in 2023. Doubtful to get snaps here in 2024 and is likely at best QB 2 in 2025. That’s a long time to go without game speed reps. Add to the fact that he wasn’t a Ponce recruit, my opinion is that he isn’t a part of a long term plan.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 12:06 pmIsn't McHugh to be a RS FR this year (2024). This is true. QB2 gets their reps Tuesday-Thursday.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 1:00 pmJust purely for the sake of seeing it in print how many real game snaps has QB2, and 3/4 seen at App over the last 10 seasons? I don't think you count the kneel down in the last minute of any blowouts we have had. It's crucial to have those guys but actual snaps have to be minimal. I really don't count JA as QB2 last year as he and Burger were probably 1 and 1A but someone could probably argue against that.
That is not really my point. Those are things that are considered as to whether he would become the starting QB and be a good one. I was just considering the timeline...if he were to wait his turn and assume he got the nod...he would be a RS Junior with two years left. That is not so bad to me... seems like the normal path back in the day.. before kids want a "play me now or I transfer idea".AppSt94 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 12:58 pmSay your situation plays out in that manner. I will let the coaches decide if his is ultimately worthy of the starting position. That is light years away from my thought process. We could have the next Peyton Manning on our roster by then
Any remote possibility we end up without our current #1 QB? Why did the Texas QB come?, likey not to continue to hold a clipboard for a G5appstate24 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 11:28 amThose would be my biggest question marks. Also excited to see who emerges as QB2.

There's always a chance, but QB1 is Joey's to lose.Black Saturday wrote: ↑Mon Feb 05, 2024 9:02 pmAny remote possibility we end up without our current #1 QB?
