Cade Klubnik is not that dude. He may develop into that dude with another off season but he struggled mightily at times in 2023. I feel as good going into this game as I did about A&M, Penn State and Miami. There’s a very real unease in Clemson’s fan base and a big loss to Georgia to open the season could lead to a softer crowd in Game 2.

I believe we have the pieces to make the game very interesting.

Kudos to Clemson for continuing to schedule us. They know a loss to App would torpedo their season and they still play us. This is what true competitors do. If you're gonna talk the talk then you better walk that walk.

I wish other regional programs would be like Clemson.

We've got a great team this year and it's gonna be a great game. Go App!

I enjoy playing any regional opponent and agree more of them should look to play us if looking for a G5 opponents. However, I give four other ACC programs; Wake, Miami, UNCCH, and NCSU more credit than Clemson. Those programs were willing to come to Boone.

Clemson gets a pass in my book for not coming to Boone. First because they continue to schedule us and second I feel they are at another level than the programs you mentioned...them coming to Boone does hasn't made sense to date, maybe if we win we can get them to agree to a game in Charlotte and then a game in Boone.

"Were" being the operative word there, but I get what you are saying.

Win or lose, this game is going to be a lot of fun. I'm fully planning on being there and leaving without a voice. I think we will have the team to pull off a win, but even a down Clemson will be a very tough out at there place. App will have to play perfect ball that day.

I'd rather beat them in front of 82,000 in Death Valley and then thank them for the big check.

We caught Miami in a very unique position where they desperately needed a game and we were able to leverage that into a home and home with game 1 in Boone. That opened a flood gate. After that there was a trend of ACC teams being willing to travel to regional G5's but I seem to remember conference brass trying to put a stop to that with scheduling guidelines. Some backed out of deals - others didn't. Shout out to NC State for (so far) sticking to the deal.

We’re walking into Death Valley with the better QB, no question. That’s an incredible opportunity. It’ll also be interesting to see if Clemson does anything at all in the skill position. They got hammered this year for lack of development there.

Dabo is notoriously against the transfer portal. They have only added 2 players since 2019 through the portal.

Our season was very very similar to theirs last year. They were 4-4 which included 2 overtime losses, before finishing 9-4. Their fans and Dabo are counting on a huge offseason of development. It will be a tough game that will test our run defense.

Clemson had 10 players enter the TP this offseason, 9 have landed at schools, 5 at P5s.

They've added zero players from the TP. Bold strategy cotton.

It is a very outdated strategy and the main reason why fans are frustrated with him. If they don't see big improvement next year, I wonder what happens to him. We have a weird opportunity to take out another HC lol.

First of all, I'll include State in that group when the game in Boone is actually confirmed.

It's not even that Clemson is better on the field than those programs, it's purely financial. Clemson's stadium seats 80,000+, and I believe it's usually pretty close to full. None of those others are in the same neighborhood in terms of attendance. The UNC AD at least was very up front that it makes more financial sense for them to play a H&H or a modified 2-for-1 with a G5 than to just pay them for a single home game. That isn't the case for Clemson.

I am trying to keep my expectations reasonable. Debating whether to go to the game, and if I do, I want to have the mindset that I'm going to enjoy the experience and expect us not to get completely embarrassed, and anything more than that is a bonus.

I'd be lying if I said I don't think we have a shot, though.
