so, for us to win the East, do we just need to beat Southern and hope JMU wins?

To me this game is the make or break between an interesting but just OK season or a great season. Hopefully we don't lose to our biggest rival at home, in a huge game on national TV, and AE day.
There is so much at stake here. The outcome of the JMU - CCU game just makes it all bigger. Saturday will either be tremendously rewarding or tremendously disappointing.
I believe our coaches and players will be prepared and up to the task. This is why we play. Let's put our App State stamp on it.
I agree. The turnaround has been great and many of our fans see it, but if we finish 7-5 then that will just put more fuel to the fire for the naysayers. An 8-4 record regardless of the conference championship game definitely gives us momentum into next season.

And root for the NCAA in the courts because Virginia's attorney general is filing something today to try to make JMU bowl eligible.

And if JMU is bowl eligible by Saturday, they will be CCG eligible. And in that case, they just need to win on Saturday.

I would think it will be very difficult to get a hearing this week if it is just filed today. The NCAA will need so time to prepare for a hearing and with courts closed Thursday and Friday, that really doesn't give much time to get it in front of a Judge, even for a TRO hearing.

Not sure how long it will take to serve the NCAA but they will need so time to prepare for a hearing and with courts closed Thursday and Friday, that really doesn't give much time to get it in front of a Judge, even for a TRO hearing.

No way should we be satisfied with a 7-5 record. To put an exclamation point on the season we need to win Saturday. If we play in the CCG then that becomes another milestone. All we can control Saturday is what we do. Win and let all else play out. Let's go get it!!!

If JMU is already disliked now, imagine the hate the cry babies and the Attorney General will garner from anyone not connected with the school that this effects negatively (meaning possibly App or Coastal). Waste of tax payer dollars and total crap to want the rules they agreed to changed midstream.

One of my cousins attended Ga. Southern and she is STILL mad about that game to this very day. According to her and her friends they should have played the game in Georgia due to the weather conditions. I thought the weather was fine.

I want to see a long drawn out boring 3 score victory that isn't in question from the opening kickoff. I have no finger tips left after this season.

The “can you score?” game. It’s hilarious that caused a fight on the hill.

Nothing was announced by Miyares yesterday, and nothing has been reported. Doesn't mean something hasn't been started on the legal process. Whole thing feels/felt like a political stunt to hype up him and Youngkin trip to Harrisonburg this past weekend. As an attorney general he should know as well as anyone that filing something on a Monday the week of Thanksgiving needing a result by the end of the week, while working with/against the NCAA isn't likely to happen. If I'm the NCAA I would just simply point out, JMU is not fully ineligible, they just have to allow the teams that have been deemed eligible with only 6 wins (A rule that's existed forever) to have their opportunity first. Leave politics out of sports!

If I'm the Sun Belt, unless it's in writing as an agreement I wouldn't even put it on the NCAA at this point. Going to tell JMU they can win the east with a Coastal victory in less than a weeks notice, while at the same time tell App who needed to beat JMU to even have a shot at the east that sorry about your luck, but we're changing our minds? Would be lame to the fullest extent.

JMU should just accept what they accepted when they moved up, and hope for some results that are favorable for them this week. I think it's possible they get in still. Link below if you're interested

I was there and a student. I remember the GSU fans making the ASU Sucks (I think) on the hill. We had about 20 guys with us and got up to run over to the hill to beat the crap out of the GSU fans, but we were late to the party as we saw quiet a few App fans running over there. Hope some went back home to the stink with black eyes. It was cold as hell that day for sure.

Year 1 in SBC App applied for an NCAA waiver (as did GSU who won the conference) to play in a bowl. In year 2 App went to Camellia bowl.

What was the difference with JMU in year 2 compared to App? Was Apps last last year in the Southern conference year 1 of the transition?

Yes, ineligible for FCS postseason in 2013. I also believe we went 4-8 so…….

But we did beat the Stink, Wofford, and Western that year.

I think we played a FCS schedule in our first year of transition.

As others have said, our 2 year transition with no postseason had 1 year in FCS (2013) and I year in FBS (2014). We were ineligible for any postseason in both years. The NCAA and Sun Belt actually did JMU a big favor in allowing them to have their first year in FBS instead of having to play FCS schedule because they already had the scholarship level due to Covid leftover players. Unlike most schools, they actually benefited from the extra covid year of eligibility because it allowed them to get to 85 quicker. JMU simply got to keep their Covid bloated roster with no worry about having to take less recruits and other issues with getting back down to 85.
