Re: Gameday App @ JMU
Going to be a tough one. Several weeks ago, I didn't think we had a chance. Defensive adjustments and the offense continuing to improve have me thinking we actually do have a chance.
A couple of things to think about, 1) they are pretty good against the run (giving up 62 yards per game), but not nearly as good against the pass (263 yards per game). We can do both, so I'm hoping we gameplan against weaknesses. Also, we are peaking at the right time and our adjustments have been outstanding. The new faces on defense and the defensive scheme is definitely different than what we looked like a month ago. Young players are growing up before our very eyes.
Common opponents are Marshall, Old Dominion and Georgia State. We are 2-1 and they are 3-0. The last two games we played the scores are very comparable to theirs. Marshall our score was 31-9 and theirs was 20-9. Georgia State both were 42-14.
All three rating services are against us: ESPN gives them a 73% chance to win, Sagarin has them as an 8.3 point favorite, and Massey has them as a 6 point favorite.
With game day there and all that goes with it, I like being the dawg.
Give em hell Apps. We definitely owe them....

They do give up the yards thru the air but also lead the conference in sacks, though the conference leader Green is out for the season. As a team they have 13 more than the next team. They are also second behind us in interceptions. The OL is going to need to provide their best performance.Longrifle28 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 9:35 amGoing to be a tough one. We’ve beaten a ranked opponent 2 years in a row. Let’s make it 3! Probably not going to get another shot at a ranked opponent this season unless we win this game anyways so this is our last chance.

Re: Gameday App @ JMU
This one should not be hard to get ready mentally for. They have always thought they were superior to us, even back in the old SOCON days. They are smarter, have better players, and have always had a smug and arrogant attitude that they are better than everyone else !
They have a good team and they will try to be physical with us. They are well coached, but we are a different team than we were a month ago.
To win this game we will have to have our minds in the right place, a good game plan, and good execution in all phases of the game. I am very encouraged at the turn around and I hope we are ready to challenge!

Re: Gameday App @ JMU /Game discussion
What are JMU weaknesses we can capitalize on? They seem to be solid top to bottom on both sides of ball. I have watched some of their games but not start to finish. Anyone know an injury update on them?
I think on our side the team is peaking at the right time and we don't seem to have a lot of nagging injuries that will hurt us.
I do think it will take a complete game to beat those guys. Especially a strong 2nd half where they tend to pull away from teams.

Clark side Collins lost for season with surgery Thursday. Hope to have him back around Spring practice.
Horn came out as precaution. Seeing team doctors with more updates later in the week.

Their secondary, and their injuries are the weaknesses they have to capitalize on. Their DBs shouldn’t hold up against our WR unit, they don’t have their best pass rushers, and they’re out their starting tackles on offenseYosefus wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 12:15 pmWhat are JMU weaknesses we can capitalize on? With the turnover battle and we’ll have the ball with a chance to win in the 4th.

I'd prefer to just skull-drag them, but I'll take the ball with a chance to win in the 4th.

Call me crazy, but I have a feeling that we may very well Skull-drag them. Like you, I will take any win but something just feels like a good old fashion A$$ whopping coming down on the Dukes. Can't wait for this game.

There’s enough guys on this roster, plus Coach, that will want to embarrass them for 28-3. I can see everyone except the Cali kid to be reved up for this one, cause he’s too cool of a cat to get worked up over it.

A chance to beat the 18th ranked team in the nation at their place with Gameday there and pay them back for last year...If this is a trap game because the team is looking forward to playing Stink then that's a shame.

Re: Gameday App @ JMU /Game discussion
In my opinion we are giving them way too much respect. These are the fumblin’ Dukes we are talking about. Honestly we were dominating them last year and foolishly took our foot off the gas and it cost us.
They dodged a bullet against Marshall, dodged another against ODU, scraped by 2-8 Virginia. Utah State took them to the wire, Troy took them to the wire. 10-0 is 10-0 but the luck in close games eventually runs out. We know that better than anyone.

A bit confused on trap game label if we are 11.5 point underdog?

And he will still throw for 300+ yards and 4 TDs.GSUwasGump’sFallbackSchool wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2023 2:35 pmThere’s enough guys on this roster, plus Coach, that will want to embarrass them for 28-3.
