Traffic handling leaving FB games

Or lack thereof
I am creating this specific thread to bring attention to this topic separate from all other Gameday processes as all the other stuff has shown positive progress over recent years.
WHY doesn’t local police and all App St police block ALL lanes (both directions) and make them exit stadium for 30 mins after games and push all exiting traffic out 321/421 as fast as possible? Most other venues I go to, big games, concerts, etc all do it. There is a proven methodology and we are not following it.
This has become ridiculous and it needs to be addressed asap.

Agreed allowing cars to come up Stadium Dr after the game was a disaster. Get anyone not post-tailgating out of the parking lots before opening them back up.

Boone PD won't allow it for some reason.
That was the plan for this season. Everything was in place. Boone PD at the last minute backed out of the plan. I don't know why though.
The plan was to have all lanes leaving Boone on 421 until the light at New Market and on 321 until the light at 321/105 extension.

Traffic jams mean fans leave the stadium before the game is over. This needs to be a big priority.

Then Everts and the Mayor need a sit down. We are not talking doing it for hours but just a window of time to let the majority of traffic that wants to leave to get out fast and then revert back to normal.

When we left Tarhole stadium they had a Trooper or sheriff at at every intersection. Someone told me at NC state they stopped an interstate to let cars out. When I left the stadium Saturday there were two trooper's sitting outside of town talking . Money talks

I tailgate after the game waiting for traffic to let up. Game ended at 7:27 p.m., I probably got down to Raley/Peacock around 8:00 p.m. and the traffic was backed up on Rivers Street until well after 9:00 p.m. I've never seen it congested for that long.
Leaving Chapel Hill sucked because everything on the south side of the school and town turns into two-lane roads. But there was a trooper at every intersection, I did see that.
Boone has four lanes leaving down in two directions, plus 105 and 421 going west to Tennessee. It shouldn't have been that bad.

In the how was KBS thread, I mentioned Rivers St deck. Game over, I watched students give ECU WAY WAY WAY too much credit then headed to the deck. Change into a dry shirt and pull into line (4th level) make it around the first turn then sit for 40? Minutes not moving. It was the same after GW. It has always moved slow but it moved. Even aftercare UNC last year it moved. So I don’t understand.

Probably those EZU fans trying to drive our mountain roads. They freeze up going downhill.

1ASU78- Well an ambulance was at the exit for a bit so that might be a little of the wait. I was on 4th level as well. The annoying honking by many did not help. They should allow the entrance used to exit as well. Just tailgate for a bit and all is well.

Only in Charlotte but those fans leave at halftime so normally there is no traffic jams

Traffic should be one way -out - for an hour after the game ends .And ...the police cadets directing traffic need a bit of training on equitable egress.

I'm sure I've asked this before but are there any larger plots of land not being used that could be incorporated into tailgate spots? Obviously the trash issue would exist but if we could spread out a bit more and use shuttles perhaps that would alleviate some of the problem. On the flip side it's not like we play games 4 nights a week. It's a problem maybe 7 times a season. You either stay home or grin and bear it. We were able to have some guys beep us to and from. They made some money and we didn't deal with parking. Worked out great.

Yes. The horn honking was annoying. My troubles didn’t end after getting out of the deck. I get to Greensboro miss a detour sign and FINALLY got out to I85 and back in the Capital City (my house) 12:15 AM

I stayed until the end and then about 30 minutes at my parking space. When we tried to leave we were not allowed to go down Stadium Drive forced to go down Stadium Heights past the Schaefer Center which we have done before so no problem, yet. When we got to River Street we were not allowed to turn right and had to go left then through town. Finally got to Blowing Rock about 8:30. But we won. It would have been much worse if we lost.

I don't know why we can't/haven't worked out a deal with tweetsie for a park and ride from the field. Could make for a great tailgate spot, too. I'm optimistic that the 105 campus could also be used as a park and ride. I would be totally OK if we looked even further out, like Wilkes and Catawba counties. But yes, we need park and ride options.
