Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
No answers to give really. I would suspect one game on a neutral field is being planned.

I gave you the answer....let me know which one you want and I will let DG know. WKU (Bowling Green, KY) or Ohio (Athens, OH).

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
I'm going to be honest, I don't think we are sitting on some scheduling news.
The AD/Football team could use some distractions right now. I think if they had a nice series signed they would have released it to give us something else to talk about.

We have contacted Colorado State and it’s my understanding they haven’t said no … at least not yet.

Old timers remember playing Va Tech in “Brown to Beasley” era. For many years after that game we have the record for most total points in a Tech game. Too lazy to look up the combined score but it was a shoot out, but we ultimately lost.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 6:37 amWe should try to get a series with Virginia Tech on the schedule so we can play them for the first time ever.

The Wyoming trip was great. Easy and cheap flights to DEN. It could be a quality series. Same for Colorado State or Air Force.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
I would love to see us play Western in Charlotte week zero.
1. Battle for Jug
2. No squabble about a return to their place.
3. Help solidify that we own Charlotte.
4. Gives us an extra bye week during the season.
5. Make game conditional that App and Western play a multi-year Home & Home basketball series.
6. Make Western's total financial take subject
to how many tickets they can sell.
7. Almost certainly a national TV audience.
8. Battle of the bands before the game and at halftime would be huge fun.
It's time, hope they will get it done.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
WCU isn't going to be a huge draw unless you went to App before the mid-80s.
From 1985-2013, nearly 30 years, WCU won two games in the series.
If you went to school in the 70-80s you probably weren't excited about playing Lenior Rhyne, that's how 90's and 2000's grads feel about WCU, and those after that would see that game no differently than Gardner Webb.

I was at App from 80-84 and nobody I know cares if we ever play the Cant's again.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 8:25 amWCU isn't going to be a huge draw unless you went to App before the mid-80s.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
I have nothing against WCU but a football match-up with them doesn't excite me. It was a good rivalry, once upon a time, but that time is past. The only thing it really offers is a game against a local team, which is what we should be doing for our one FCS game per year. I'm not sure it will happen any time soon though. WCU needs a big pay day for their FBS game, and we won't pay what they need. For now, it doesn't seem to be a fit.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
The main issue I would have about a BoA stadium game vs WCU is I don't think we'd have enough people for the matchup. WCU wouldn't come mostly and our fanbase wouldn't be as excited as the ECU game there.

Re: 2025 Football Schedule????
I attended App before the mid 80s, late 70s/early 80s to be precise. With that said, I have no interest in playing WCU. Furman - maybe WCU - not!Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 8:25 amWCU isn't going to be a huge draw unless you went to App before the mid-80s.
