I picked up what you were putting down. Hughes is the guy for FGs or at least that is what I would put my money on. Every player needs someone to push them, hence extra non scholly kickers.

I did some research on last year's stats.

App went 18 for 37 on 4th down conversion attempts last season, or 49%. This was 71st out of 131 FBS teams.

Only four FBS teams attempted to convert more 4th downs than App in 2022. Three of them has at least a 60% conversion rate (Texas Tech, Baylor and Navy) while one was slightly worse (Northwestern, who went 1-11) at 47.5%. Four other teams attempted 37 fourth downs as well, UNC, Buffalo, SMU and WKU. The first three were right around 60% conversion rate while WKU was 40.5%.

Here's every 4th down decision from 2022 when the ball was on the opponents' side of the field.

After his performance last season, his job should be up for grabs.

9 of 12 with two of the misses being from 50+ is good...

True, but he missed a 30 yard FG that would have won the GSU and made us bowl eligible.

But Hughes had nothing to do with our defense sucking A$$ that game. Hughes never played one play on defense to make us bowl ineligible.
