Based on stats in the past we are a good bet to surpass that and I don't see how we fall below 7 wins unless our QB play is awful. I personally think we could win between 8-10 games.

We fell below 7 wins last year with one of the best QB seasons App has seen. It’s possible, honestly think it’ll all depend on the defense again. If the defense is solid 8 wins is a good bet.

I said in 2019 that Clark was a lazy hire. I got made fun of. I've also said I want him to be successful. I said, right after the Carolina game that the Sun Belt had caught up with us. I got made fun of. This is year four. No more excuses and no more unrealistic expectations. Let's see what he can do. But if he doesn't... I will be pissed off. Call me whatever you want. But that dude got extended for no reason (if in fact he "bleeds Black & Gold), so it better be go time.
Well you are just wrong about the "lazy hire". Being the 3rd head coach in 3 years it had to be a person who had been here and wanted to be here. He was the right hire and unless something really bad happens he will continue to be the head coach. And by "really bad", I'm not referring to Ws and Ls. And I really don't think Coach Clark will lose any sleep over you being pissed off.

He’s definitely not wrong by any means . I might call it the “Easy hire” instead. And yes fourth year is go time even if some say we missed an entire recruiting year with Drink .

When you have players and fans publicly supporting Clark plus him leading us to a great bowl win, him being a former player, multi-year assistant, associate head coach, how can you not hire him? We needed someone to keep the App culture and not turn this into a revolving door of stepping stones. He was not an easy or lazy hire. He was the necessary hire.

Agree. I believe that Ivey was getting the same support when Satt left but we went with Drink.

It wasn't Drink! The 2019 class was primarily Satt's class. The only signings from that class that was Drink's were B. Harrington and DBG. All others were recruited by Satt and company.

2020 class was primarily Drink's. We'll see the results of that class really happen this year. The main players with playing time from that class that were recruited by Drink (Noel and Daley were recruited by Rowe and Watts respectively as a late finds) are Ronald Clarke (arguable if he should get as much playing time as he did), Christan Horn, Jalen McLeod, DDP, and Castle. Passeggiata, Eli Wilson, Haigler, Markell Samuel (new position) all have to prove themselves as solid contributors this year for Drink's class to be a success. As of now, Drink's class is also sub-par but has a chance to become really good if those listed do provide high quality playing time.

As of last year, it was the sub-par 2019 class that was causing the depth issues (again, not Drink's class). This year is when we would normally see Drink's class and depth -- but transfer portal this year changed that so we'll never know.

I believe that Clark offered Castle once he got the job.

We probably could have had 8-9 wins last year with an average defense. The A&M win was incalculable. The JMU loss hurt. We really beat the 2 best teams in the conference last year in Troy and JMU considering the drama those 2 brought- should have been and could have been.

The board appears to have four camps:

- Clark was a bad/lazy hire

- Clark was a good hire, but results didn’t warrant an extension and we need results this year

- Clark was a good hire and at the time the extension was fine, maybe a stretch, but we need 8 wins this season and compete for the SBC title in 2024

- Deflectors - you guys just don’t understand all the issues that were out of Clark’s control

I think most are in the third camp with some between 3rd and 4th and 2-3 total in the first.

I agree with you. We also dropped a Carolina win when we were wide open, but the Troy Hail Mary was improbable so that's a push. Missed a FG to beat GaSo as well. A lot of that was on the defense, but our rushing game disappeared in several losses last year. 34 carries for 63 yards against JMU, 21 carries for 41 yards against Texas State, 27 carries for 88 yards against Coastal and 40 carries for 116 against Marshall. All 3.3 yards or less per carry and 5 or less rushing first downs in all four of those games, including 0 against Texas State. We also had a season high of 2 turnovers in ALL four of those games.

I think our running game rebounds this year and I LIKE the underdog role.

We had a lot of issues beyond QB though. I think with all the changes we made on defense, coaching, and having a dual threat QB that we should be better. I do understand we could win less than 7 games but I don't think we will.

Vegas picks us to fight for the bottom of our division with 6.5 wins. Maybe we can prove them wrong.

The ESPN FPI says we will win 11 of 12.

Maybe. 6.5 seems low to me and while 11 would be nice, there would need to be a lot of favorable bounces. The thing about the East is that we aren’t the only ones with a lot of unanswered questions so I feel like anything is possible.

I’m seeing 10 of 12. Wyoming and UNC are favored against us. But several games including Marshall, JMU, and Georgia State are essentially toss ups according to their percentages. 50.9% against Georgia State according to FPI I would hardly classify as saying we will win.

Side note ESPN fpi is crap lol

I'm thinking 8-9 wins. Think the first couple of games will be sloppy. OOC 2-2? GW imo will not be a blowout. (the boo birds will be out early) Might be a very boring game something like 24-14ish

I see our floor as 7. Our ceiling is 11. I'll pick 9 with a SB East title.
