Happy Birthday Coach!!

Surprised, this hasn’t been posted yet. Happy 84th birthday to the GOAT, Coach Moore. Truly one of the good ones. One of the nicest, most genuine people I’ve ever met. We are so lucky to be able to call him coach.

Live it up Coach!

A fun story about coach and his birthday -- although, I'm sure nobody will be surprised by this...

I can't remember what year it was, but we were in the weight room on coach's birthday and we had planned on giving him a Gatorade bath when he came to check in (he always said at least hi with every group -- something most HCs don't do any more). Somehow, he got wind of this but still showed up in his regular clothes -- or so we thought.

Under his clothes were, no joke, trash bags with holes cut in them so he didn't get his body wet. After a long battle of trying to get him outside and letting us sing happy birthday (he didn't want it about him), we finally got him outside. The plan was finish happy birthday song, have a couple of former players come behind and pour the Gatorade on him and surprise him. This SOB stripped down to his trash bags while we're singing (of course, we are super confused thinking he's going to introduce a new uniform or something) and says "got you suckers" with that casual, side smirk on his face. And never even got the Gatorade poured on him! Instead, we just group hugged him and threw him on our shoulders. Couldn't even trick the old guy!

I know I'm missing a lot of details but it was a long time ago and I may have got hit in the head a lot during my playing days, but this was one of my better memories of playing for coach.
