This won’t be a popular opinion but I thought James Madison was a decidedly better team than we were last season and, if not for the 14 points the Dukes spotted us in the first half, the outcome would have been more lopsided. Yes, we were victimized by a bad no-call, but that happens in almost every game. We do ourselves (and JMU) a disservice to say we got hosed.

App scored all 28 points in a 7:35 period. Adding on the four minute drive to score the first touchdown, App was offensively poor the other 48 minutes of the game.

JMU looked good on their first drive when they kicked a FG, which I thought at the time was a mistake on their part (turned out to be the difference), collapsed for that 11 minutes, then rebounded and looked good the rest of the game.

Believe they will miss that QB more than they think.

QB, top RB, and 4 of their top 5 WRs. That’s a lot of production gone.

So App will be favored?

Honestly, they could. That’s a lot of production to replace and they have a brutal three game road stretch with UVA, Utah St and Troy to start the year. The outcome could set the tone for their year.

JMU accessed the portal for QB and other positions. We have ECU, UNC and Wyoming...all bowl participants in prior year...and a pretty good FCS team...our schedule is not too shabby either.

We have some young players in important positions this year. I’m going to break the season into two equal parts. I’m not as interested in our record through the first 6 games as I am the last 6. Improvement throughout the season shows hope and promise to return to top of the conference.

Interesting that we are still so high and Marshall is above Troy. I do think a lot of people are sleeping on Marshall. 8-4 last year with bad QB play. Any meaningful improvement in their QB play and they will beat VA Tech and NC State

Maybe not if whoever our new guy is can hit an open receiver and can keep a defense honest as a running threat.

Interested to see the new Texas State qb. He was very highly recruited and had flashes of good ball while at Arkansas.
