A big gap between Sept 16 and Oct 10 home games.... could lose the home crowd if there are losses in between and super cold weather.. not a great home schedule by Dougie boy.
It's obvious you're a Doug hater, but this is easily a top 3 schedule we've ever had. Only reason it doesn't beat last year's is because we had Carolina at home.
TWO non conference HOME games in Boone -- Gardner Webb is one of them - Gardner Webb - Gardner Webb from Shelby, the baptist school that can barely keep the doors open. Last time App beat them so bad Satterfield told the boys to fall down because they couldn't tackle them it was so pitiful.

and ECU is the other -- really only 2 and Gardner Webb and you're saying this is a top 3 schedule EVER.... stay out of CBD store beside the home and report real news not fake news you get fed by the admin. The other 4 games give credit to the new conference has zero to do with the AD.

So we have ECU, UNC and Wyoming on the schedule. Whether home or away..that is a great schedule for us. All were bowl eligible last year I believe. ECU beat beach Chickens like a rented mule.

So we occasionally have had Wake come to town (not anymore because they do not want to play us). We have had Miami and UNC in KBS in the past several years with NC State and The Cocks coming down the road. Given we are less than decade into this FBS life. Yea, I think that is pretty damn good.

Ignorance in the west is down playing ECU in Boone.

Imagine the mental gymnastics to reach this level of absurdity.

Then not giving any credit to the AD that is the most responsible for which programs came into the SBC last three. This included convincing western members to invite three eastern based teams which put App squarely in the geographic center of our division.

This is freaking hilarious.

ECU is an in-state G5 PEER that should have beat Nc State and Cincy and demolished UCF and CCU. That is a huge Non-Conf game. That game should be viewed on the same level as the UNC game last season imo. Gardner Webb lost to CCU by 4 (less than us in a game where McCall got hurt), Liberty by 1 and Marshall 28-7 last season. They are no pushover. Comparing the 2023 game to the 2018 game when GWU was 3-8 is not a genuine comparison. That is a HUGE Non-Conf game when you consider we will be starting so many new people, whether you like to admit it or not.

We get to play 3 in-state opponents, 1 ACC opponent, 1 destination game in Wyoming, 2 home games a month, only 1 midweek game (during peak Fall season I might add), only 1 FCS team, and an incredible home slate featuring ECU, CCU, Marshall and GaSo. Other than Wyoming and ULM being in back-to-back weeks, give us 3 seasons with a better schedule?

The only change...not game wise. Realize late in October, they should have made So. Miss parents weekend. ECU will sell out no matter what...and parents would have bought Parents Day tickets for parents day at anytime on the schedule. They buy those tickets analogous to their being a toilet paper shortage...each and every year in a day or two ...and would do it whether Sept, October and November....just my opinion. Feel like a lost opportunity to get another sellout

Terrible? Jeez Caption Hyperbole.

Complaining about a home Labor Day game, hosting ECU, CCU, Southern Miss, ODU, Marshall, and GS. Everyone of those schools will bring over 2k to Boone. This is what we hoped for when we joined the FBS ranks.

You mean the Gardner-Webb that lost to Coastal by four points in 2022 (we lost by 7 to Coastal). Yes, they are an FCS team. We likely will play one most years.

I'm complaining about 5 saturdays in a row with no home game at the most awesome time of year to be in Boone.

Some of those weekends just get to be too many people for the high country. Especially the 3rd weekend in Oct. I would probably prefer doing fall activities on the Monday or Wednesday around the CCU game due to the weekend traffic.

I understand, I'd love to be in Boone every weekend, I was taking exception to your use to the word "terrible". It is one of the best three home schedules we've had.

So tell us what you would do big guy!
Start the season at UNC -- Need Gardner Webb game between UNC and ECU game or before Wyoming. Need a buffer...have a potential 3 game losing streak looming.

Too big of a gap between 9/16 and 10/10 home games in Boone -- weather gets in rough in November and crowds dip a bit in 2 big home games. not sure the point of playing Wyoming -- why the travel so far away take a day and half to recover and then head back to Monroe.

Playing UNC/Texas A&M was not very good by DG this past year... no G5 team should play back to back P5
games. HC would tell you this off the record and DG will admit behind close doors he made a mistake.

He's judged by football - he needs to do a better job PROTECTING the golden goose!

At some point the AD needs to be held to the same standard as the Head Coaches. No track for 5 years, lack of consistent championship relevance across the board, cutting sports, etc.

I give you credit for having a response, no matter how ignorant. You realize that DG has no control over what the SBC does in terms of scheduling conference games. Is it Doug’s fault that the conference scheduled ULM after Wyoming? No. Is it Doug’s fault that we have so few games at home in October? Again, no.

As for when we schedule the OOC games, that’s a two way street and I doubt Carolina moves us to week 1 since they are playing SoCa in Charlotte that weekend. Scheduling isn’t easy, and it is near impossible to do create an ideal situation, particularly when OOC games are scheduled so far out. I’m sure Doug could have made the schedule that you offered up and you would still find a reason to complain because your disdain for Doug is unlimited.

We have ECU, Marsha, both Southerns and Coastal. What is a “giant killer” game?
None of those games will get national attention. We will need to run the table to get any national attention. UNC is not respected in football. A Sec or BIG team victory or Clemson, FSU. A top 10 or 20 team. Carolina may be ranked when we play them if they win their first game but I doubt it.

Maybe we do not get as beat up this year with our non-conference schedule as we did last year and have a better season as a result.

The only minor complaint I have is playing Wyoming. Zero upside to that. But it's certainly better than Bob Morris. People who complain too much are never happy. Not going to a bowl game was an absolute gut punch. Even though most of the ones we ended up with sucked at least we qualified. The big gap in home games does stink and even though those week day games are cool that day the gaps of time before and after suck especially when Saturday arrives and we ain't playing. ECU at home is awesome. Will be a mad house.
