Re: 2023 FB schedule watch
We , and a lot of others , try to schedule a "warm-up game".It has been that way since 1869.GW is a regional FCS play off team.Next year it's probably ETSU.If we are going to get one FCS a year those are good ones , my opinion. As to adding the four to the Belt , the AD had little to do with it.The Chancellor led that effort and closed the deal .JUST WIN BABY !

Just curious. Why do you want to start with unc with a new QB?DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 4:47 pmStart the season at UNC -- Need Gardner Webb game between UNC and ECU game or before Wyoming. A big gap between Sept 16 and Oct 10 home games.... could lose the home crowd if there are losses in between and super cold weather.. not a great home schedule by Dougie boy.
and ECU is the other -- really only 2 and Gardner Webb and you're saying this is a top 3 schedule EVER.... stay out of CBD store beside the home and report real news not fake news you get fed by the admin. The other 4 games give credit to the new conference has zero to do with the AD.
Too big of a gap between 9/16 and 10/10 home games in Boone -- weather gets in rough in November and crowds dip a bit in 2 big home games. not sure the point of playing Wyoming -- why the travel so far away take a day and half to recover and then head back to Monroe.
Playing UNC/Texas A&M was not very good by DG this past year... no G5 team should play back to back P5
games. HC would tell you this off the record and DG will admit behind close doors he made a mistake.
He's judged by football - he needs to do a better job PROTECTING the golden goose!
At some point the AD needs to be held to the same standard as the Head Coaches. No track for 5 years, lack of consistent championship relevance across the board, cutting sports, etc.

I will say I agree about the lack of success of sports across the board. Compared to the conference new comers, it is clear we are behind in a lot of sports and areas.DenverOfTheEast wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 4:47 pmStart the season at UNC -- Need Gardner Webb game between UNC and ECU game or before Wyoming. Re: 2023 FB schedule watch
Forget David Vs. Goliath. I'd be happy if we could just consistently be a David that beats other Davids. A&M proved that we can still be a "giant killer," but the rest of the season proved we're not always particularly good at being a "regular dude killer." Let's get that under control first. Then we can worry about national visibility.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 6:12 pmNone of those games will get national attention. We will need to run the table to get any national attention. UNC is not respected in football. A Sec or BIG team victory or Clemson, FSU. A top 10 or 20 team. Carolina may be ranked when we play them if they win their first game but I doubt it.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:42 amWe have ECU, Marsha, both Southerns and Coastal. Re: 2023 FB schedule watch
If we were playing literally any other P5 team that was coming off a division title and had a top-tier Heisman favorite at QB, no one here would complain about how they aren't "respected in football."AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 7:41 pmMeh. Re: 2023 FB schedule watch
I think the schedule shapes up quite well for us. As far as the October gap, I can understand being disappointed over that. But we only had one Saturday home game between Oct. 1 and Nov. 19 last year, and we had to schedule a second FCS opponent to get it. So not exactly a new issue.
Personally I like the way our home games are spread out better than last year, when we were home four of the first five weeks and then had the big gap. It's never going to be 100% perfect for every fan. But I think it sets up well both competitively and for fans.

Re: 2023 FB schedule watch
FYI - This isn’t a statement of DG is good or DG is bad. We have been extraordinary in Football and Wrestling. We are mediocre in every SBC sport besides football. We don't even have a men's soccer or men's tennis team. At least 3 of the 4 newcomers - Southern Miss, ODU, JMU and Marshall - have better records than us in Football, Basketball (men's and women's), Volleyball, Women's Tennis, and Softball**(still very early but going off of SBC standings here). That 75% of the SBC sports we compete in. I don't have the data for SM and Marshall, but we are behind JMU and ODU in athletic fundraising. So with all those reasons "why", I state again that I don't think our athletic department as a whole is performing better than the SBC newcomers.Stonewall wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 1:52 pmThe question remains - "why"?ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 27, 2023 12:16 pmI will say I agree about the lack of success of sports across the board. Re: 2023 FB schedule watch
My guess is the GW is a 3:30 tilt on the +. Carolina is noon on ACC Network and ECU is 3:30 on ESPNU. Coastal on the Duece.
