Agree. Chicken crap cowards. Appears that UNC is the only team that might play us after the contract we have now. The rest of the ACC won't do it. Scared chicken s*&#S!!

History repeating itself, another sign that G5 will be the new FCS, FCS the new Div 2, and down the line.

A Wake reschedule for the 2020 game in 2025? I'd take that.

Frustrating, if not surprising.

Note that it's coming from the league office, not the individual schools. As the article notes, a lot of those ADs have found that a home-and-home makes more financial sense for them than buying a home game.

Yes, it says that the decision is ultimately up to the individual schools but they are being discouraged. It really is frustrating, but I agree it's not terribly surprising. I'm wondering if more Home/neutral site (BofA stadium) games might be the result. It would be great if schools would push back on this, but I don't have much hope for that beyond currently scheduled games.

I skimmed the article. Did it say that they wouldn’t play us at all, or just not on the road? I read it as they were advising to schedule road games against P5 and Army only.

Also, great catching up with you and the guys this weekend.

Honestly I hate what College sports has become. All because of a label the pricks at ESPN put on the smaller schools “G5”. And that’s all it is is a label.

It may be just a label but it does accurately categorize the "non autonomous FBS" teams in a far easier way than saying "non autonomous FBS". The label doesn't say we can't compete, just lets everyone know the drastic differences in competitive balance.

Drastic difference in money, not competitive balance.

What I find so very difficult to understand is that this is not what the fan bases of the "P5" UNC System schools want. Go to any tailgate on a Saturday in the fall and ask them if they'd like to see App & ECU regularly or some far flung Big10/Big12/SEC/Pac12 school the answer will be App/ECU.

Money is competitive balance in college football. Doesn't means the teams aren't competitive but the balance is far from equal.

My two cents...the way i read it was that their television partner (ESPN) or tv gurus looking at future television revenue for the conference is suggesting they only sign up p5 vs p5 games. It makes sense for the television peeps to think this way. It is crap for the college fan that wants to see schools they care about playing each other. I would be fine playing g5's at home and going to their p5 school and get paid to put an L on them and on TV. UNC and Texas A&M. I have always looked at those games as our bowl game.

I agree with specifically your last sentence. In a good season let's say we play and beat a UNC/A&M, etc, especially at home in front of 38-40k fans and then go on to a solid 10-2 season and even win the Belt we still end up in the same bowl (assuming no NY6). Isn't that marquee really nice P5 win probably better than beating some CUSA team in mid December in front of 20k fans in Florida or even New Orleans?

Very True. We are already Back to the Future. So much change and so much the song remains the same. Like the FCS we were in the G5 is a second-class citizen in the football cartel world, not part of the country club. I know some of our friends on YC don't like it, but some wish the G5 would get its own 4 team playoff ala the P5 had, something extra to recruit and work and play for, besides The Myrtle Beach Bowl. And maybe satisfy our bowl only enthusiasts crowd, one of the first-round games can be The Myrtle Beach Bowl and the championship can be The Cure Bowl? ;)

As long as the new playoff format actually becomes what it suggested, the best G5 will get a chance at a title every year. There is no reason we can't be that team on a consistent basis, not annual but at least every few years I would say. Exposure like that will bring in recruits, revenue, and corporate money like we haven't seen before. Make that playoff a couple times and I am sure the ACC brass would careless if their teams scheduled us. This is all about improving the perceived strength of the ACC to try to not lose more ground to the SEC and Big10. Especially since the teams are stuck in the ACC and they have the lowest TV revenue by far for the foreseeable future. Their grant of rights and long term deals have screwed them and they are searching for ways to "improve" the perception of the conference and hoping that better competition will mean better wins and better perception. We make the playoffs and all of a sudden we are the better competition coupled with huge savings on travel expenses and sold out stadiums. Just win and all will take care of itself.

Is this now off the table? The Wolfpack will visit Boone on Sept. 6, 2025 and App State will visit Raleigh h on Sept. 26, 2026, according to FBSSchedules.com.

For right now the games will still be played. Also feel nothing will change with the dates, but I doubt there will be another game after 2026 if the ACC gets their way.
