Renewing Season Football Tickets

Unread post by CoachRob » Mon Jan 23, 2023 12:09 pm

Has anyone renewed their season tickets for next year? From what I'm reading there are several changes.

1) Per seat donation? what is that?
2) minimum of $1500 Yosef donation for parking?!?

This real??? Or am I reading it wrong?

I don’t know about the second question but yes. Your donation amount for 2023 determines how many tickets that you can order and where those seats can be located.

It depends on seat location. My seats require a 350 donation plus ticket prices. It's the college version of PSLs.

So what does per seat mean? Does 1 donation not suffice for 2 tickets?

I get that the lvl of donation dictates where the seats are, I'm just trying to figure out what per seat means in the season renewal tab on the athletic website.

Sorry for multiple post.

If your current seats require of $250 per seat, then you must give $500 to get 2 seats. $250 x 2.

Right. I think it's actually pretty self-explanatory. You find your desired seating area on the map, and whatever the listed per-seat donation is, you have to donate at least that much for EACH season ticket you want to buy.

Now the $1,500 parking minimum was news to me, but I think I found what you saw (on the benefits chart). It says $1,500 is the minimum to *guarantee* parking access. But in the note, it says "not guaranteed (for new donors)," which would suggest that if you're a returning donor, you're OK. Then again, parking wasn't guaranteed before, so that may not technically be different. They're probably covering their bases after people got mad last year, especially with Legends being unavailable now.

That's ridiculous. Why the change. I may be able to do another $250 for my second seat, but I could see this hurting a lot of people. Especially families who purchase more than 2 tickets. This will have gotten super expensive.

Exactly, so four seats would be $1,000. I believe this was implemented , for example, so someone can't donate $500 and get 8 seaason tickets. It was announced last year that this policy would start for this season.

Ok, I feel safe about parking then. I do see the "If Available" and I have been donating long enough that I should continue to get parking. *Fingers Crossed*

Consider yourself lucky. My seats are $400 minimum donation per seat. I’m sweating out whether we’ll be able to afford it once we retire in a couple of years.

Because it is the model that many schools have adopted to generate revenue. As it was said earlier, we had too many people that would donate $100 and get 8 tickets. I understand your frustration but we have simply reached a point where we can’t be small time anymore and expect the consistent success that we have become used to.

Curious to see if there will be less season tickets sold because of this. I've got a new born, and was hoping to have 3-4 seats in the coming years, but that'll be about impossible.
What schools is this modeled after? Talked to Wolfpack club member and that's not how they do it. Don't think the Rams club does it this way either.
I understand not trying to be "small time" anymore, but I wonder if we end up hurting current season ticket holders instead of trying to bring in new donors for revenue.

According to the administration, there is a waiting list of about 1k for season tickets. Have we heard that rhetoric before? Sure. Here is the link to the information. https://mountaineersathleticfund.com/

Carolina and State do not work on this model. However, two points that need to be recognized. 1) they don’t need money the way non P5s do. 2) their season ticket prices are $200 and $180 more than ours at $250.

The model isn’t going to be satisfactory to everyone. I’m sure that Gillin and staff understand that there will be breakage and hurt feelings, but it really is necessary for us to grow and be competitive.

FBS football , and everything else ,is expensive. It is simply a way to pay the bills. We don't have the revenue sources that State and Carolina have yet we want to compete with them , The Sunbelt , ECU ....and beat them.

State must have changed. I had a friend who had 4 season tickets for BB and 8 for football. They upped his donation requirement so he told them to keep their tickets. He no longer contributes anything and uses the money to travel.
If we want want want we have to pay pay pay

WKBC and ESPN will have to do for me. They've priced me out of the market.

No, I get it, it's just frustrating. Wish I was rich. My own fault as I decided(called) to go into education.

I love App, but family comes 1st. I can make it work now, but at the end of the day if it comes down to a decision in the future, family wins as App tickets are a luxury.

For those concerned about buying tickets for the family, note that the per-seat cost goes as low as $100 depending on location. So if your current seats require $250 or $400 per and that's too steep for you (as I'm sure it is for many), you do have the option to drop down to a more affordable level. Obviously seat location won't be quite as good, but it's not like anywhere in KBS is THAT far from the field.

Understand this might not be satisfactory for everyone, but I wanted to make sure we all at least know the options.

Will be interesting to see how this affects sales. I'm sure the hope is that higher-dollar donors will fill the pricier seats, lower-level donors will still buy where they can afford, and YC memberships will increase as folks who previously bought on friends' accounts now buy their own memberships. At least in theory...

If they switch back in a year or two, we can guess why.

Don't know about State, but the Rams Club in fact does use a similar model, and has done so for years. It's not a per-ticket price exactly, but the number of season tickets members can buy, and their seat location, depends on their giving level.
