We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
We've had to have a DC by now. It's been 1.5 months hahaha. No one goes 1.5 months without a major coaching hire. Shoot practice starts next week.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
Not sure how long it normally takes to hire a DC, but this does feel a bit lengthy. I wonder if the best candidates see it as too risky with App coming off a bad season. They may feel if another bad season occurs, then Clark is gone and so are they. Just a thought.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
I would rather us take a little time and get the best fit than hire quick and it be a bad one. Shawn can't rush this stuff because he knows his job is on the line. I think we need to be patient. It would not surprise me if we see an announcement regarding this by early next week. We will see if the rumors are true.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
Given the time, it's clear our first choice (I don't have insight to who that would be) wasn't available. However it looks like someone is about to get a great opportunity.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
Obviously we are planning to hire away an NFL DC, and we just can't finalize the hire until his team is out of the playoffs.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
I just don't get why everyone is up in arms about the length of the hiring process.
#1 - Any decent DC would still be coaching/recruiting up to signing day.
#2 - Between signing day (or after a bowl game in a normal season) and Spring classes is about the only break these coaches get. That has to be factored in here. They were traveling to multiple states a day for 2 solid weeks after months of coaching with NO bye week.
#3 - A hire WILL be made before spring classes, so what difference does it make to hire on Jan. 12th or Dec. 12?
#4 - I believe this is a unique challenge for App, but it is not easy or cheap to find living arrangements in the High Country. There are not readily available apartments/rentals if you have a family. You basically have to buy something or pay out the you know what if you have a family.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
I find it hard to believe that if we’d already hired someone that it hasn’t leaked. There is a coaching convention in Charlotte today, I believe. Perhaps Grady Davis will be there and fill us in on what happens.

And the stricter hiring process than most schools have for athletics hires...ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 2:15 pmI just don't get why everyone is up in arms about the length of the hiring process.

That said, expect an announcement sooner than later

Not to mention that the school has been shut down for two weeks for the holiday.ASUFan4863 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 2:15 pmI just don't get why everyone is up in arms about the length of the hiring process.

Re: Defensive Coordinator
Doubtful, in my opinion. I would think a quick hire would have been internal. External should take longer because of search, interviews, negotiations, then all the necessary admin approvals
